Job Type: Senior Architect – Construction
Location: Egmore, Chennai
Job Summary:
The Senior Architect is responsible for leading architectural design, coordinating with consultants and construction teams, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. The role involves both design leadership and construction-phase involvement.
Key Responsibilities:Design & Planning
- Lead concept design, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation
- Ensure designs meet functional, aesthetic, sustainability, and regulatory requirements
- Review and approve architectural drawings, specifications, and material selections
- Guide junior architects and design teams
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with structural, MEP, landscape, and other consultants
- Interface with clients to understand requirements and present design proposals
- Manage design changes and value engineering during project lifecycle
- Participate in project meetings with stakeholders
Construction Phase Support
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements
- Conduct site visits to ensure architectural compliance and quality
- Resolve design-related issues during construction
- Support contractors and project managers with technical clarifications
Compliance & Quality Control
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, authority regulations, and safety standards
- Implement quality control processes for architectural deliverables
- Ensure documentation accuracy and consistency
Leadership & Management
- Mentor and supervise architects, draftsmen, and BIM teams
- Assist in resource planning and workload management
- Contribute to design standards, best practices, and process improvements
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong design, detailing, and construction knowledge
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools, and MS Office
- Good understanding of construction materials and methods
- Excellent communication and client-handling skills
- Strong leadership and coordination abilities
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in residential, commercial, institutional, or mixed-use projects
- Exposure to large-scale or multi-disciplinary construction projects
- Familiarity with green building standards (LEED/IGBC) is an advantage
