Our Organization and Mission: The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Position Summary: This Senior Assistant Attorney General position is in the Office of the Attorney General within the Consumer Protection Division in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This position is in the Multistate and Privacy Bureau and will work approximately 60% on multistate issues and 40% on privacy issues. This Senior AAG position may conduct litigation of privacy, consumer protection, and multistate cases in state and federal courts, including drafting pleadings, motions, memoranda of law, and briefs. This position will work on complex matters, including investigations, case development, and negotiations of injunctive and monetary relief. This position requires the ability to interface with other agencies and to work closely with other state and federal staff to analyze the legal issues involved.
The position requires an understanding of privacy issues and related statutes. This position will work closely with the Chief Investigator who is assigned to handle the investigation of privacy matters. In addition, substantial experience investigating complex matters is required which includes experience handling advanced discovery reviews, taking a leading role in settlement negotiations, as well as preparation for litigation.
Pay: $113,622.08 Annually
Qualifications:
Admission to the Florida Bar and six (6) years of professional experience in the practice of law, legal research, teaching law or in administrative or judicial hearings. The required legal experience must be from the practice of law in a state or territory of the United States. Membership in good standing in another State Bar can substitute for the required admission to the Florida Bar provided that, pursuant to Rule 11-1.10 of the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar, the attorney applies for and obtains admission to the Florida Bar within 12 months of appointment to a position in this class.
