Senior Automation Engineer to support laboratory robotics and high-throughput technologies in Purification, Microbiology, and Virology (PMV). The role focuses on designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining automated workflows for purification development and analytical methods.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead design, programming, testing, and maintenance of automated lab workflows (e.g., robocolumns, sample prep, and analytical integrations).
• Collaborate with scientists to develop and optimize automation systems for purification and analytical processes.
• Manage instrumentation specification, configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of robotic systems (TECAN, Hamilton, etc.).
• Act as automation subject matter expert—supporting design, implementation, documentation, and training for non-GMP applications.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams on hardware/software integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Stay current on automation technologies and recommend improvements for productivity, safety, and efficiency.
• Support user training, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration across PTD and partner organizations.

Qualifications:

• Education: BS/MS/PhD in Engineering or related science.
• Experience: 4+ years in pharma/biotech automation design, configuration, implementation, and support.
• Technical Skills:
• Hands-on experience with TECAN or Hamilton liquid handlers, scripting (VB, VBA, or Python), and integration with third-party peripherals.
• Familiarity with lab software (Chromeleon, Benchling, Excel) and database/Active Directory management.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
