Senior barista

The Senior Barista is responsible for delivering exceptional coffee and customer experiences while supporting the daily operations of the café. This role serves as a mentor and lead to junior baristas, ensuring consistency in beverage quality, service standards, and operational efficiency. The Senior Barista also assists with training, inventory management, and shift supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based and specialty beverages according to established recipes and presentation standards.
• Lead by example in delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining a welcoming café environment.
• Train, guide, and support baristas in coffee preparation, customer service, and operational procedures.
• Ensure adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
• Assist in monitoring stock levels and ordering coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies as needed.
• Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment; perform basic troubleshooting and cleaning.
• Oversee shift operations when the manager is unavailable — including cash handling, opening, and closing duties.
• Monitor beverage quality and consistency, adjusting grind settings or recipes when necessary.
• Contribute to menu development and recommend new beverages or improvements based on customer feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of sales, wastage, and stock usage.
• Promote brand values and uphold company standards at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a barista in a busy café or specialty coffee environment.
• Deep knowledge of coffee origins, roasting profiles, brewing methods, and latte art.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work efficiently under pressure.
• Basic inventory management and POS operation skills.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Passionate about coffee culture and continuous learning.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Barista certification (e.g., SCA, Barista Guild, or equivalent) preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform repetitive motions.
