We're a fast-growing CPG beverage company looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to keep our books clean and our financials accurate. This is a part-time remote role averaging about 80-120 hours per month, with occasional visits to an office.
You'll be owning day-to-day bookkeeping functions and working closely with our team to make sure everything is reconciled, categorized correctly, and reported on time.
What You'll Do
- Manage all AP and AR functions end-to-end
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule via Gusto
- Maintain and reconcile accounts in QuickBooks Online
- Ensure all transactions are properly categorized in QB
- Process and manage vendor payments through Bill.com
- Track and reconcile employee expenses via Zoho
- Run standard QB reports including P&Ls, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Own month-end close, including full reconciliation of all accounts
- Track and reconcile sales across all channels including DTC/ecomm, retail, and distributor separately
- Reconcile all bank accounts and credit cards monthly
- Reconcile 3PL/warehouse reports against QB inventory records
- Track and remit sales tax across all states where we sell
- Manage and reconcile inventory and COGS
- Process and reconcile co-packer invoices
- Manage trade deductions, chargebacks, and trade spend (MCBs, off-invoice allowances, promotions) from retailers and distributors
- Prepare 1099s for all applicable contractors and vendors
- Enforce expense approval workflows before processing any payments
- Support tax prep by pulling and organizing requested documents for our external tax agency
- Serve as the internal point of contact for all bookkeeping and accounting functions
- Help build and improve financial processes and workflows as we scale
- Flag discrepancies and escalate financial issues to leadership as needed
- Keep financial records organized and audit-ready
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of bookkeeping experience, ideally in CPG, food & bev, or a product-based business
- Expert-level QuickBooks Online skills (certification is a plus)
- Hands-on experience with Bill.com and Gusto (or similar platforms)
- Strong understanding of AR, AP, payroll, and general bookkeeping principles
- Detail-obsessed and organized, you catch errors before they become problems
- Self-starter who can work independently with minimal oversight
- Strong communicator who can flag issues clearly and proactively
- Based in Southern California and able to come into the office occasionally
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting a growing startup or small business
- Familiarity with CPG-specific financials (COGS, inventory, trade spend, etc.)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
