We specialize in cleaning up books, managing financial operations, and helping clients make better business decisions. As our firm grows, we are looking for a strong, experienced accounting professional who can oversee daily financial operations, support our junior bookkeeping team, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.

This is a key leadership role designed to take operational responsibilities off the owner’s plate and help drive the firm forward.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Senior Bookkeeper / AP & AR Manager / Payroll Administrator to manage core accounting functions, oversee junior bookkeepers, and serve as a primary point of contact for clients.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, confident communicating with clients, and capable of managing multiple priorities while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Oversight

  • Oversee and review work completed by junior bookkeepers for accuracy and completeness
  • Ensure all client deadlines are met consistently
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to junior staff
  • Monitor workflows and identify process improvements
  • Escalate issues or risks proactively

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

  • Manage vendor bills, payments, and expense tracking
  • Oversee invoicing, collections, and cash application
  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Maintain accurate records of all transactions

Payroll Administration

  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance
  • Handle payroll tax filings and reporting
  • Respond to payroll-related questions from clients and employees

Client Communication

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients
  • Communicate regularly regarding financial status, deadlines, and requests
  • Maintain professional and responsive communication
  • Build strong, long-term client relationships

General Accounting & Operations

  • Perform and review bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Online
  • Assist with month-end and year-end processes
  • Ensure documentation is complete and organized
  • Support process standardization and operational efficiency

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Strong experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll
  • Experience reviewing or supervising bookkeeping work
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines

Preferred:

  • Experience working with contractors or construction companies
  • Payroll certification or advanced payroll experience
  • Experience in a bookkeeping or accounting firm
  • Process improvement or workflow management experience

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
