Job Title- Life Sciences Sr Business Analyst

Location - Hybrid @ Foster City, CA

The Senior Business Analyst will lead business analysis activities for the design, implementation, and validation of a new laboratory environment. This includes alignment between business requirements, regulatory compliance, CSV, data integrity, and implementation of lab systems.

Working knowledge of R&D systems such as ELN, LIMS, SDMS, CDS, data lakes, and modeling platforms

Key Responsibilities

1. Business & Regulatory Requirements Definition

  • Gather and document business needs and functional requirements
  • Lead stakeholder workshops and conduct interviews
  • Develop BRD, URS, FRS, and RTM
  • Ensure ALCOA+ principles and regulatory compliance (Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, Accurate, Complete, Consistent, Enduring, Available, and Traceable)

2. Process Improvement

  • Evaluate lab operational procedures
  • Identify opportunities for workflow optimization
  • Create As-Is and To-Be process maps

3. Solution Evaluation

  • Support feasibility analysis of proposed IT solutions
  • Identify impact of software or workflow changes
  • Ensure alignment with business and compliance requirements

4. Lab Systems Implementation Support

  • Support implementation of LIMS, CDS, ELN, Empower, and lab instrumentation
  • Assist with integrations, interfaces, and configuration

5. Communication & Liaison

  • Act as a bridge between IT and business users
  • Ensure timely issue resolution and alignment on project goals

6. Project Support

  • Assist in project planning, tracking, and reporting
  • Support validation planning and documentation

7. GxP Compliance & CSV

  • Author/review validation documents
  • Ensure requirement traceability
  • Support audit readiness and change control processes

8. Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with lab engineers, vendors, QA, and system integrators
  • Review documentation for GxP suitability

9. Risk Management

  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Identify data integrity vulnerabilities

10. Data Migration & Infrastructure Support

  • Define data migration requirements
  • Support backup, archival, and audit trail strategy.

Note: Compensation range should extend from the minimum to P75, consistent with the job family and level.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $120-150K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
