Senior Business Consultant - Clinical Products (Remote)

PURPOSE:
The Sr. Business Consultant provides expertise in tailored, strategic, and critical work to help design, launch, and execute programs that support initiatives in the changing healthcare industry. This role supports the optimization and effective use of clinical technology platforms and works closely with clinical teams to translate clinical and operational needs into business requirements and scalable capabilities. The role requires deep clinical and operational expertise to independently assess workflows, identify inconsistencies or risks, and surface actionable insights, enabling effective decisionmaking without routine reliance on clinical escalation. The incumbent will work remotely from within the greater Baltimore metropolitan area and will be expected to attend meetings, training, and other business-related activities at a CareFirst location periodically

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide subject matter expertise in a particular area (including but not limited to one of the following: project management, finance and budget, human resources, data and metrics, information technology, etc.) that contributes to the effective accomplishment of initiatives tasks and goals.
• Collaborate on the business strategy, thesis, programs and the identification of strategic opportunities.
• Proactively build and lead cross-functional teams and projects between division, and internal and external stakeholders to deliver value to supported team.
• Proactively identify ways, means, and platforms to build synergy and mutually reinforcing workstreams to accomplish tasks more effectively across different business functions of initiatives.
• Apply deep operational and clinical domain knowledge to independently evaluate clinical workflows, requirements, and system behavior, quickly identifying gaps, inconsistencies, or misalignments.
• Anticipate downstream operational, regulatory, and clinical impacts of proposed changes, surfacing risks and issues early without requiring routine clinical clarification.
Act as a subject matter peer to clinical stakeholders, engaging them for confirmation and alignment rather than initial issue identification.

• Design and run dashboards to support clear communication across vertical components of business.
• Review and support task coordination while identifying potential process improvements.
Develop and finalize budgets, policies, and other documentation for programs.

• Build trusted relationships within and across CareFirst to deepen subject-matter expertise, find opportunities to synchronize, and ensure close coordination with teams in their areas of responsibility.
• Identify opportunities for synergies to improve task execution across the organization.
• Work collaboratively with other support partners in our current and upcoming programs.
• Communicate strategy, programs, and next steps to leadership and our partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Experience: 10 years experience in business development, operational technology support, general business operations and/or consulting experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MBA or other graduate degree in business related field.
• Extensive handson operational experience within clinical, care management, or utilization management environments, enabling independent identification of workflow and system issues.
• Demonstrated ability to apply clinical and operational judgment to assess requirements, identify inconsistencies, and resolve issues with minimal reliance on adhoc clarification from clinical partners.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $214,500
