The Senior Business Development Consultant is a key role operating in the UAE market, responsible for driving significant new business growth. The role requires substantial face to face engagement with top producing IPMI brokers and/or direct clients to facilitate strong and consistent sales growth. The selected candidate will serve as the day to day face of Bupa Global, demonstrating sound commercial acumen, advanced presentation skills, credible business enabler capabilities, and a proven track record of auditable business growth in the healthcare market. The role also involves managing a team, overseeing day to day performance, and monitoring KPIs. Additionally, the consultant will develop new commercial opportunities, collect robust data for future planning cycles, and provide competitor and market insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, design, and implement new business development plans and strategies.
- Proactively build strong relationships with intermediaries and direct clients, taking full ownership and accountability for profitable business generation.
- Develop a robust pipeline of appropriate new business opportunities and optimize it by ensuring broker/client engagement to meet targets.
- Conduct profit reviews to identify improvement areas and lead conversations with brokers to agree on actions to optimize profitability.
- Review progress of initiatives against plan and take remedial action as appropriate.
- Build, manage, and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, including key customers and networks, to deliver strategy and increase opportunities.
- Effectively promote and deploy Bupa's strategy, product range, propositions, and key differentiators to harness commercial opportunities.
- Foster a continuous improvement mindset, identifying improvements and transforming ideas into tangible implementation steps to drive the business forward.
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of sales representatives, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
- Conduct monthly 1:1s, bi annual and annual performance reviews of team members alongside our T&C framework.
- Manage all tasks through effective time management, planning, and prioritizing workloads to maintain an effective and functional service level.
- Maintain the highest quality and service standards in line with criteria set by the Management Team, FCA, and Compliance.
- Continuously analyze, improve, and develop performance against objectives through online learning and development initiatives, maximizing knowledge application.
- Build professional and lasting relationships with colleagues and other departments within the Bupa Group, maintaining open communication channels to promote the Broker Sales Team positively.
- Always comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act and those of the FOS and FCA.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years sales experience with a proven track record in the UAE health insurance and international PMI arena.
- Expertise in new business processes.
- Knowledgeable in the UAE regulatory landscape.
- Experience working with CRM systems.
- Excellent PC skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.
- ACII qualification or equivalent preferred.
- Exposure to regional markets and regulatory space is a plus.
- Highly motivated with excellent organizational skills and a strategic mindset.
- Excellent deal structuring and negotiation ability with analytical capability.
- Self motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team to achieve goals.
- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Capability to work strategically with matrix partners across the business.
- Ability to travel within the region as required.
- Multilingual speaker preferred but not essential.
