McElroy Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to support production scheduling and supply chain execution in alignment with company objectives for customer service, inventory levels, cost control, and quality. The Senior Buyer executes sourcing strategies, mentors Buyers, and collaborates with Commodity Managers and cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, supplier performance, and operational excellence within a manufacturing environment.
- Create and execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.
- Analyze DDMRP recommendations to determine optimal purchasing strategies.
- Manage requirements associated with assigned parts and execute purchase orders to suppliers.
- Coordinate execution of the master production schedule related to assigned materials.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers.
- Maximize vendor performance related to On-Time Delivery, Quality, Inventory Levels, and Cost.
- Work with suppliers to ensure planning system data accurately reflects expectations.
- Communicate and coordinate return of non-conforming material, obtain RMAs, and work with Shipping as needed.
- Collaborate with suppliers to optimize invoice processes and resolve payment delays.
- Identify systemic quality or supply issues and collaborate with Buyers and Commodity Managers on alternatives.
- Identify, communicate, and mitigate obstacles to meeting production schedules.
- Lead or support lead-time improvement initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within purchasing and supply chain processes.
- Mentor and lead Buyers on the team.
- Instill and model the Purchasing team culture through leadership and example.
- Bachelor’s degree required with minimum six (6) years of relevant experience; or twelve (12) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain design principles supporting on-time delivery, quality, and lowest total cost of ownership.
- Manufacturing experience with knowledge of MRP, DDMRP, Theory of Constraints, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Ability to interpret engineering prints and understand fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook required.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Infor XA or AS400 preferred.
- Experience with PowerBI, Intuiflow, and related planning tools preferred.
- Strong mathematical and statistical skills related to business applications.

- High emotional intelligence and ability to work cross-functionally.
- APICS or ISM participation and certifications preferred.
- Flexibility to accommodate varying workload requirements.
