Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Buyer to manage the procurement of direct-purchased components for our medical device manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sourcing and supplier management within a regulated industry, preferably medical devices, and will play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of high-quality components.
Senior Buyer Description
- Source, negotiate, and procure direct materials and components required for medical device production.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery expectations are met.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to align purchasing strategies with product development and manufacturing requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance and lead efforts to resolve delivery, quality, or pricing issues.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA requirements in all procurement activities.
- Analyze material usage and forecast future requirements based on production schedules and new product introductions.
- Participate in cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, purchase orders, and supplier documentation in ERP systems.
- Support audits and supplier evaluations as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Operations, Supply Chain or related field.
- Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in an organized fashion, multi-task and prioritizing projects and tasks as needed.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as ISO 13485 and FDA QSR.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Epicor, Oracle, or similar).
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of manufacturing requirements and ability to assess supplier capabilities that fit the Company's business needs.
- Strong demonstrated knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), Master Production Schedule (MPS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) supply chain processes.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's Degree Business Administration, Management, Operations, Supply Chain or related field.
- 8+ years' experience in medical device manufacturing or purchasing.
- Previous Epicor experience preferred, ERP experience required.
