Senior Buyer--Sports Wear

At Genius HR Tech we are hiring for a role of Senior Buyer-Sports Wear Category with a leading Retail Conglomerate

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Category Management: Exercise full ownership of the buying cycle, from seasonal planning through to in-season execution and management.
  • Financial Performance: Drive results for the assigned categories
  • Strategic Planning: Prepare seasonal assortment plans, range frameworks, and option counts aligned with financial targets and brand identity.
  • Buying Strategy: Execute strategies covering product mix, pricing architecture, margin delivery, and inventory productivity.
  • Global Sourcing: Proactively develop sourcing opportunities beyond India to improve product differentiation, speed-to-market, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborative Development: Partner closely with Buyers and Graphic Designers to translate customer insights and trends into commercially viable, cohesive assortments.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee the vendor base, including selection, onboarding, negotiations, costing, MOQ management, and delivery adherence.
  • Commercial Negotiation: Secure target margins while maintaining strict quality, compliance, and ethical sourcing standards.
  • Trade Analysis: Monitor sales, stock levels, intake margins, and sell-through; implement corrective in-season actions to optimize performance.
  • Supply Chain Partnership: Collaborate with Planning and Supply Chain teams on OTB management, buy quantities, and replenishment strategies.
  • Calendar Discipline: Ensure strict adherence to critical path calendars for timely product delivery across all seasons.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Manage and develop the team, setting clear objectives and building internal bench strength.
  • Market Intelligence: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of trade dynamics, competitor landscapes, and evolving customer behavior.


Key Requirements

  • Experience: Buying experience within fashion retail or a private label environment.
  • Commercial Track Record: Proven ability to independently manage a category and deliver high-impact commercial results.
  • People Management: Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Trade Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of trade, market dynamics, and customer preferences.
  • Category Breadth: Experience is not restricted to menswear or denim; candidates with diverse category exposure are highly encouraged.
  • Sourcing Reach: Professional exposure to sourcing markets beyond India is a critical preference.
  • Skill Set: Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
