Senior Camp Counselor

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise campers during all camp activities, ensuring they are engaged, safe, and supported at all times
  • Manage classroom-like settings within the camp environment, utilizing effective behavior management techniques to promote positive interactions
  • Assist with planning and executing diverse activities such as sports, arts and crafts, theater performances, and outdoor adventures that cater to various age groups and interests
  • Provide first aid when necessary, following proper protocols to address minor injuries or health concerns promptly
  • Support staff training by mentoring junior counselors and helping maintain a cohesive team atmosphere
  • Enforce camp rules and safety policies consistently to create a secure environment for everyone involved
  • Collaborate with program coordinators to adapt activities for children with special education needs or behavioral challenges

Skills

  • Proven experience in childcare, camp counseling, or working with children in educational or recreational settings
  • Strong classroom management skills coupled with effective behavior management strategies
  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development stages preferred
  • Ability to perform first aid confidently and respond calmly during emergencies
  • Experience in teaching, tutoring, or specialized areas such as theater or sports coaching enhances your versatility
  • Excellent communication skills for working with children, parents, and team members from diverse backgrounds
  • Familiarity with youth group settings or daycares are a plus for fostering positive values within the camp community
  • Must be able to be in an outdoor environment for the majority of the day. Familiarity with farm animals is a plus but not required.
