Role Overview

The Senior Cloud FinOps Consultant will serve as a key advisor to public sector entities on cloud financial governance and cost optimization. This role is cloud-agnostic and strategic in nature, focusing on building FinOps capabilities, promoting cost visibility, and ensuring that cloud spending aligns with business value across both GCP and Azure environments. The consultant will work within the CoE and liaise with various stakeholders from government organizations, finance departments, and cloud teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of FinOps practices for public sector entities operating in GCP and Azure.
• Establish frameworks for cloud financial governance, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
• Promote cost visibility, accountability, and chargeback/showback models across technical and business units.
• Work with engineering, procurement, and finance teams to optimize cloud resource utilization and identify cost savings.
• Develop dashboards, KPIs, and reporting standards for ongoing cost monitoring and optimization.
• Provide training and workshops to stakeholders on cloud financial best practices and FinOps principles.
• Advise on contract optimization, reservation planning, licensing, and vendor management strategies.
• Support organizations in aligning cloud spending with business value and strategic outcomes.
• Continuously track market trends and evolve FinOps strategies based on emerging tools and practices.

Qualifications

• Over 5 years of experience in IT financial management, cloud operations, or related roles.
• Proven expertise in cloud financial operations (FinOps) across multi-cloud environments, especially Azure and GCP.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization in the context of cloud services.
• Familiarity with FinOps Foundation principles and best practices.
• Experience implementing chargeback/showback models, cost allocation tagging strategies, and cloud spend governance.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate across technical and financial domains.
• Experience working with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Looker, Tableau).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in English.
• Experience building or contributing to a FinOps or Cloud Business Office function.
• Ability to lead cost optimization reviews and executive reporting for cloud spend.
