Senior Design Engineer

RIK Industries Private Limited is a well-established furniture manufacturer operating the e-commerce brand ABOUT SPACE with significant impact as an e-commerce seller. We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer with expertise in wood furniture design and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for new furniture development, technical drawings, material optimization, and end-to-end design execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of wooden furniture products (Office / Study tables, Bookshelves, Storage Cabinets, Coffee Table, Wardrobe, Modular furniture, etc.)
• Create detailed 2D & 3D drawings using AutoCAD / SolidWorks / SketchUp.
• Develop production drawings with joinery details, hardware selection, and material specifications.
• Ensure designs follow industry standards, ergonomics, and manufacturing feasibility.
• Optimize materials and costing for efficient production.
• Prepare BOMs, cut lists, CNC programs (if applicable), and assembly guides.
• Coordinate with production, carpentry team, QA, and procurement to execute designs.
• Review prototypes and conduct design improvements based on feedback.
• Manage multiple design projects and mentor junior designers.

Qualifications

• B.E / B.Tech – Mechanical / Production / Industrial / Furniture Technology (preferred).
• 5 to 10+ years of experience in furniture design, especially in wood and panel-based products (plywood, MDF, particle board, hardwood).

Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of woodworking joinery, hardware (Hettich / Hafele), and finishing processes.
• Proficiency in design software: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, or similar.
• Understanding of CNC, edge banding, routing, lamination, and fabrication.
• Ability to create shop drawings, 3D renders, and BOQs.
• Good project management and team coordination skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
