Title: Senior Designer (Structural)

Experience: 3+ Years

Reports to: Project Manager

Location: NJ Based (Flanders or Hackensack)

Salary: $36 - $42/hr, based on experience and qualifications

Brief Description:

Under direction, routinely performs all basic design tasks and does other related duties as required. Is knowledgeable of state and local regulations and has some experience with municipal engineering and site design. Must have the ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.

Examples of work/duties:

• Structural design of low-rise buildings.
• Structural design for a variety of additional related structures including retaining walls, sign structures, and other miscellaneous structures.
• Structural design for a variety of structures for transformers, generators, pump stations, and other utility features.
• Candidates shall be able to develop gravity and lateral loads using applicable building codes. (ASCE 7 & IBC)
• Design and detailing of building structures utilizing wood (NDS), steel (AISC Manual of Steel Construction), concrete (ACI 318), and masonry (TMS 402/602) construction materials.
• Review project sites and evaluate contractor work to detect deficiencies and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable codes.
• Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications and structural repairs to other project members and contractors.
• Review shop drawings and project submittals during construction for conformance with the construction documents and applicable building codes.
• Develop structural analysis models (2D & 3D) utilizing structural analysis programs listed below.
• Perform site visits to gather information to be used in design and detailing of repairs and/or modifications to existing structures.
• Develop construction documents that include structural framing plans, foundation and superstructure detailing, notes, specifications and typical construction details.

Computer Skills:

Experience Using:

• Microsoft Office
• Autodesk AutoCAD (2D drafting). Revit experience is a plus.
• RAM Structural System
• SAP2000
• SAFE
• Enercalc
• SRWall
• Hilti Profis

Requirements (education, licensing, certifications, etc.):

• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• BS Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. MS in Structural Engineering is a plus.
• EIT Preferrred (Passed FE Exam) and on track to becoming a Professional Engineer (PE)
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Some project site visits and inspections as required. If no company vehicles are available, must be able to complete visit with own vehicle.
• Strong Knowledge of Statics, Mechanics of Materials, and Structures Analysis
• Familiarity with CSI and DOT Specifications.

This is a full-time position located at one of our NJ offices (Flanders or Hackensack). The work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
