The senior director position within the Information Technology, Digital Services (ITDS) department of HMP Global is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of the organization’s digital assets. You will guide projects and manage development teams. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the senior director will lead a team of web developers (4) and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure HMP Global’s online presence effectively communicates with healthcare providers, promotes engagement, and supports organizational goals. In this role, you will assist other developers on your team and provide them guidance, and you will focus your time on management and business operations. You will communicate with clients and other business leaders to understand and communicate project requirements to your team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for HMP Global’s websites in alignment with ITDS goals and objectives. Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement to enhance the user experience and meet evolving needs.
- Website Development: Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of HMP Global’s websites and other digital properties, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards, usability best practices, and security protocols.
- Project Management: Plan, prioritize, and delegate tasks to meet project deadlines and milestones, including a potential website migration to a new web platform. Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and IT professionals to execute web development projects effectively and efficiently.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with communication specialists, content creators, graphic designers/creative, and IT professionals to integrate web development efforts with overall communication strategies and initiatives.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality assurance processes and standards to ensure the reliability, performance, scalability, and responsiveness of HMP Global’s digital properties. Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- User Experience (UX) Design: Champion user-centered design principles and conduct user research, usability testing, and feedback analysis to inform digital properties enhancements and optimize user journeys.
- Analytics and Insights: Utilize web analytics tools and metrics to track and analyze digital properties performance, user behavior, and engagement metrics. Generate reports and insights to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
- Training and Development: Provide training, technical support, and documentation to HMP Global staff responsible for website content updates and maintenance tasks. Stay abreast of emerging web technologies, trends, and best practices.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensure that HMP Global’s digital platforms comply with relevant regulations, standards, and policies, including web accessibility (WCAG), privacy laws, and security requirements.
- E-Commerce Development: Create and build online platforms that enable the sale of HMP’s products and services. Requires experience designing and developing user-friendly interfaces, integrating secure payment gateways, managing product catalogs, and implementing features to enhance the overall customer experience.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
- 5+ years of professional experience in web development, including 2+ years in a leadership or management role overseeing web development teams and projects.
- Expertise in front-end and back-end web development technologies, frameworks, and CMS platforms. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and SQL is required. The current web platform operates through Drupal, which is preferred.
- Strong understanding of web design principles, usability best practices, accessibility standards (WCAG), SEO strategies, and web security protocols.
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools for planning, tracking, and reporting on web development projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and influence decision-making.
- Mentor teams and communicate with others outside your department.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, user-centric digital experiences.
