Senior Electrical BIM Modeller

Electrical Engineer with BIM Modelling expertise to support the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical systems for infrastructure and building projects. The candidate shall be responsible for electrical design development, BIM modelling, multidisciplinary coordination, clash detection, and preparation of engineering deliverables in compliance with project requirements, local authority regulations, and international standards.

Key Responsibilities Electrical Engineering

• Prepare and review electrical design layouts, schematics, and calculations for:
• MV/LV power distribution systems
• Lighting and emergency lighting systems
• Earthing and lightning protection systems
• Small power systems
• ELV systems interface (telecom, CCTV, fire alarm, access control, structured cabling)
• Utility coordination for electrical services
• Develop electrical load schedules, voltage drop calculations, cable sizing, short circuit studies, and protection coordination.
• Review and coordinate electrical design drawings in compliance with local authority requirements and utility regulations (DEWA/TAQA/FEWA/SEWA/ADDC, Civil Defense, telecom authorities, etc.).
• Support preparation of technical specifications, BOQ, design reports, and tender documents.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, telecom, and utility disciplines.

BIM Modelling Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain LOD 300/350/400 Electrical BIM Models using BIM software.
• Prepare detailed 3D electrical models including:
• Cable trays and trunking
• MV/LV duct banks
• Conduits and containment systems
• Lighting fixtures
• Power outlets and equipment connections
• Electrical rooms, substations, RMU and transformer layouts
• Underground utility coordination
• Perform clash detection and coordination using BIM coordination tools.
• Generate:
• Shop drawings
• Coordination drawings
• Sections and detailed views
• As-built models
• Ensure BIM deliverables comply with project BIM Execution Plan (BEP), employer requirements, and project standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary BIM coordination meetings.

Software Skills Required

• Proficiency in:
• Autodesk Revit
• AutoCAD
• Navisworks
• ETAP or DIgSILENT PowerFactory
• Dialux evo
• Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of BIM 360 / CDE environment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical engineering and BIM modelling for infrastructure/building projects.
• Experience in UAE/GCC projects is preferred.
• Knowledge of:
• IEC, BS, IEEE, NFPA standards
• Local utility authority regulations
• Civil Defense requirements
• BIM standards and workflows

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of electrical engineering design principles.
• Good knowledge of MV/LV infrastructure and utility coordination.
• Proficiency in BIM modelling and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work under project deadlines.

Preferred Experience

• Major infrastructure projects involving:
• 33/11kV substations
• MV/LV networks
• Utility corridors
• Dry services coordination
• Large mixed-use developments, industrial facilities, or ports/logistics projects
