Senior Electrician

Job Role

Lead electrical maintenance and small projects for residential/light-commercial sites. Scope includes diagnostics, repairs, small installations/upgrades, testing & commissioning, and documentation on LV systems up to 415V (1Ø/3Ø). Coordinate with dispatch, ensure compliance with HSE and local-authority practices, and close jobs with full CRM documentation and client sign-off.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnostics & Repair: Trace and rectify tripping, overloads, earth faults, voltage drop, overheating, nuisance RCD trips, and control issues.
• Distribution Boards: Re-termination, load balancing, labeling to standard, busbar/neutral/earth checks, tightening/IR tests; minor DB upgrades/splitting and surge protection device (SPD) installs.
• Installations/Upgrades: Circuits for lighting/power, dedicated supplies (water heater/AC), isolators, MCB/RCD/RCCB/RCBO/MCCB changes, earthing/bonding improvements, cable containment (conduit/trunking/tray).
• Lighting & Controls: LED retrofits, drivers/transformers, dimmers/relays, emergency lighting tests and replacements.
• Testing & Commissioning: Continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, loop impedance, RCD trip/time, earth resistance; record readings and issue basic test reports.
• ELV Interface (basic): Doorbells/intercom peripherals, Wi-Fi smart switches (as agreed).
• Materials & Variations: Prepare BoQ/parts lists, highlight code/safety issues, obtain pre-approval for variations.
• Documentation: Upload before/after photos, test readings, labels/schedules, and client sign-off in CRM.
• HSE & Compliance: LOTO/isolation, permit-to-work where needed, hot-work controls, PPE, tidy work areas, and protection of client property; enforce exclusion zones.
• Client Communication: Explain findings, options, and risks in clear terms; align ETAs and site access/community rules.

Minimum Requirements

• 5–8 years hands-on electrical maintenance/fit-out (UAE/GCC preferred), including 3-phase systems up to 415V.
• Strong troubleshooting across protection devices, cable sizing/derating, earthing/bonding, and control wiring; able to read SLDs/schematics.
• Proficient with standards/practices of UAE authorities (e.g., DEWA/ADDC) and IEC/BS principles.
• Competent with multifunction testers, insulation/megger, loop/PSC meters, RCD testers, clamp/multimeter; thermal imaging familiarity is a plus.
• Basic English for reports and client updates (Arabic/Hindi/Urdu a plus).
• Smartphone for CRM, navigation, and photo documentation.
• Valid UAE driving licence preferred; willing to travel between emirates.

Education & Certifications

• ITI/Trade Certificate or Diploma in Electrical (or equivalent).
• KHDA/TVET or third-party competency card preferred; First Aid and Work-at-Height awareness a plus.
