As an Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled software developers to successfully deliver software projects/products on-time with the desired quality. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementation of Cepheid software products. You will be required to plan, coordinate and lead activities across the full delivery lifecycle. While still being highly technical and hands-on in designing, developing, reviewing and maintaining software, and overall system architecture, as well as mentoring associates and building the team. You will partner with Cepheid IDC and Cepheid Sunnyvale leadership to build technical capability at Cepheid.

This position is part of the R&D Department and will be in Bangalore, IDC, India. Our vision is to continuously drive innovation and efficiency in our development processes, leveraging the latest in software and hardware technologies to meet the needs of our global customers.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Direct cross-functional system engineering teams to design, develop, deploy, and sustain regulated product and system solutions in compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR Part 820
  • Manage end-to-end project lifecycle from requirements through release, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to defined quality metrics using tools such as JIRA and Confluence
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, resource allocations, and risk mitigation strategies using Microsoft Project or equivalent project management platforms
  • Drive implementation and continuous improvement of software engineering processes aligned with CMMI or Agile methodologies, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and release management
  • Oversee technical hiring, onboarding, and capability development aligned with organizational goals, including evaluation of candidates for proficiency in systems such as Git, Jenkins, and Docker
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including product management, documentation, training, deployment, and support to ensure alignment and traceability across the product lifecycle
  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging software technologies, tools, and competitive products relevant to embedded systems, cloud platforms, and DevOps pipelines

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Minimum 12 years of software development experience including 3 years leading delivery of software projects with direct personnel management
  • Proven track record of applying customer insights to drive product improvements and design execution across software platforms
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Java, Spring, and Angular for enterprise-grade application development
  • Engineering degree in Computer Science required within the 12+ years of software development experience
  • Experience managing cross-functional global teams using structured improvement methodologies such as DBS
  • Hands-on experience coordinating multi-team collaboration across stakeholder groups to meet delivery milestones
  • Demonstrated ability to lead software teams through objective prioritization, performance tracking, and delivery accountability

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience in a Medical device or an equivalent regulated domain
  • Good knowledge of Lean
  • A background in leveraging AI to improve operational performance.
  • Experience working with distributed teams in a global setting.
