Responsibilities:

Assist the Head of Engineering in the design and evaluation of tender proposals and/or project designs.

Proactively communicate with managers of other departments regarding engineering aspects.

Respond promptly and accurately to engineering questions or assignments related to tenders and projects.

Ensure the development of cost-efficient (alternative) designs and value engineering solutions.

Review tender/project designs and identify the need for verification.
-
Propose and develop value engineering solutions to optimize designs and project outcomes.

Prepare design drawings and specifications for projects.

Support the preparation of the full engineering data package required for the commencement of detailed design, design verification, or Front End Engineering Design (FEED) endorsement, and participate in addressing ongoing clarifications/queries as needed.

Advise on the allocation of work to sub-contractors and consultants.

Prepare scopes of work for consultants and liaise with them to manage designs in the best interest of NMDC.

Understand the contractual framework, including rights and obligations, and manage design/engineering activities accordingly to protect NMDC’s interests.

Support the tender team in adapting construction methodologies to the most suitable design.

Proactively communicate with Project Managers, Engineering Managers, and other management personnel to ensure successful project execution.

Assist with research and development activities related to engineering.

Ensure correct design approaches are followed according to QA/QC procedures and standards.

Ensure all required advice and reports for other departments are provided in a timely manner.

Assist in identifying and evaluating major risks and opportunities within the engineering department.

Provide leadership and guidance to employees within the engineering department.

Stay up to date with technical knowledge and ensure effective knowledge management to enhance engineering capabilities within the company.
Qualification and Experience:

Master or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Preferably Civil, Geotechnical, Structural, Coastal), or equivalent
-
Minimum 15-20 years of experience in engineering and design in related industries
-
Experience in dredging and civil marine project is highly preferred
