Senior Environment Engineer

Key Duties, Responsibility & Accountabilities:

1. Take part in the development and implementation of environmental management system.
2. Lead environment management system internal Auditing group.
3. Prepare semi-annual reports on the environmental performance of SATORP and submit them to lenders representatives.
4. Monitor the daily air emissions and wastewater discharges as well as the flaring incidents and report immediately any deviations/exceedances.
5. Coordinate/communicate with Royal commission environmental staff for any environmental incident occurring at SATORP and provide any clarification/information or reporting required.
6. Prepare regular report on environmental performance of SATORP and submit them to royal commission Environmental protection and control Department as per RC reporting system.
7. Supervise the clean-up or decontamination of chemical/oil spills incidents within inside and outside SATORP operating facilities and provide reports to all concerned.
8. Follow up and practice in waste management and recycling programs.
9. Take part in Hazard identification and risk assessment of health and environmental aspects.
10. Provide HAZCOM awareness sessions to all SATORP concerned employees.
11. Take part in preparing scope of work for environmental serviced provided by 3td party approved contractors.
12. Supervise stack testing services provided by an approved 3rd part specialized contractor.
13. Supervise the LDAR program monitoring services provided by an approved 3rd party specialized contractor.
14. Supervise the ground water monitoring sampling and testing services provided by an approved 3rd party specialized contractor.
15. Participate in and facilitate the annual lenders representatives’ visits to SATORP and provide the required monitoring programs.
16. Conduct the environmental training programs for relevant SATORP employees and participate in instilling a profound environmental awareness culture within SATORP.

18. Maintain a record of environmental incidents/accidents or claims and develop or advance relevant prevention programs as required.
19. Liaise with other SATORP Organizations to provide technical advice on treatment and transportation of wastewater or hazardous waste, to improve current treatments processes and to ensure proper storage facilities if needed in coordination with the environment coordinator and Environment & Health Superintendent.
20. Keep up to date with the latest Refinery products and processes, maintain knowledge database and advice the Environment & Health Superintendent on possible impact to the environment.
21. Advice on waste treatment and containment and develop procedure to prevent mishaps.
22. Take part in the development and implementation of sustainable and GHG initiatives.
23. Perform other duties as assigned by the Environment & Health Superintendent.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or equivalent.

Minimum Experience: Five (5) years of experience in Environment Engineering, or similar position.

Job Specific Skills:

• Strong Knowledge of Environment Management Systems in the context of the Oil Industry.
• Strong Knowledge of relevant environment legislations, ISO14001 and the Royal Commission regulations.
• Good understanding of Refinery operations.
• Capable of giving strong attention to details.
• Ability to function independently and effectively in a self-directed environment.
• Conversant with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical ability.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Good presentation skills.
• Strong command of oral and written English.
