Description:
Staples Construction Company is seeking an experienced Estimator. Must have experience estimating ground-up projects with a minimum value of at least $20 million. The average project size is 2,000 SF to 300,000 SF and $10 million to $80 million. The Estimator will be working on Multi-family/Mixed-Use, Commercial, Retail, Hospitality, Education, and Industrial projects. They will coordinate full estimating services on large, complex work, and all types of contracts. Candidates must possess a great attitude, proper skills, and the ambition to fulfill the following essential functions:
TYPICAL DUTIES:

Provide client contact to assess scope of work and resources required to successfully complete project.

Prepare complete estimate for selected project with detailed review of proposal specifications, drawings, takeoff information, contracting, etc.

Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and manhour figures.

Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.

Provide complete conceptual (or bidwork) and final estimating input on complex projects.

Provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids.

Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.

Assist contracting department during preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids as required. Track awarded contracts as required - may include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credit; procuring materials, etc.

Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required.

Initiate and maintain extra work estimating and issuance of change orders.

Assist in overall implementation of company objectives, including profitability, quality and schedule.

Position has direct profit and loss responsibility.

Perform additional assignments per Supervisor/Corporate Director’s direction.
Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE INCLUDE:

Bachelor’s degree in construction management or similar degree from an accredited institution, preferred.

Minimum of 8 years estimating experience in construction management, estimating, and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction.

Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods); craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations; engineering, estimating, schedules and safety required.

Experience working with project managers/superintendents.

Excellent communication and organizational skills essential.

Excellent Office Suite skills, specifically Excel, Word, and MS Project.
