Senior Executive Finance - Shipping Line

The Senior Executive—Line Person is responsible for managing financial transactions, reconciliations, and accounts related to shipping lines. This includes handling line payables/receivables, freight settlements, and ensuring accurate and timely financial dealings with shipping partners.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shipping Line Financial Management

  • Manage accounts of shipping lines (payables & receivables).
  • Process payments to shipping lines, including freight, detention, demurrage, and other charges.
  • Ensure timely settlements to avoid service disruptions.

2. Invoice Verification & Processing

  • Verify invoices received from shipping lines against agreed tariffs and contracts.
  • Ensure accuracy of charges (freight, THC, documentation, etc.).
  • Process invoices in the system after validation.

3. Reconciliation

  • Perform periodic reconciliation of shipping line statements.
  • Identify discrepancies and coordinate with lines for resolution.
  • Maintain updated and accurate ledger balances.

4. Coordination with Operations

  • Work closely with operations and documentation teams for shipment validation.
  • Ensure all financial entries align with actual shipment data.
  • Resolve billing issues related to shipments.

5. Receivables Management

  • Track receivables from clients related to line charges.
  • Follow up for outstanding payments and ensure timely recovery.
  • Coordinate with clients and internal teams for payment clearance.

6. Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare reports on line-wise expenses, profitability, and outstanding balances.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting of shipping line costs.
  • Provide insights for cost optimization.

7. Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
  • Maintain proper documentation for audit purposes.
  • Support internal and external audits.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Commerce (BBA / B.Com / ACCA part-qualified preferred).
  • 3–5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or freight forwarding finance.
