Senior Financial Analyst

The Financial Analyst III analyzes financial, claims, and actuarial data to support decision‑making related to IBNR, reserving, and medical expense performance. This role helps maintain financial accuracy by assisting with monthly reserve calculations, tracking trends, and creating models that strengthen IBNR methodologies. This position contributes to forecasting activities, enhances analytical tools, and provides insights to leadership with minimal supervision. Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Accountabilities

  • Analyze financial data to support decision‑making and operational recommendations
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models for forecasting and analysis
  • Monitor variances, identify trends, and recommend corrective or strategic actions
  • Assist with annual and quarterly forecasting processes
  • Provide financial insights to management to guide business decisions
  • Apply advanced professional knowledge to complex analytical projects
  • Contribute expertise and serve as a resource to team members

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • 5 years of work experience beyond the degree
  • Strong Excel skills to include some advanced features to support daily work tasks (Able to run Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS Statements, large datasets)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a healthcare or health plan environment
  • Familiarity with IBNR, medical claims analysis, reserving methods, or actuarial concepts
  • Experience presenting financial and analytical insights to leadership
  • Advanced skills in forecasting tools, financial modeling platforms, analytics software, or actuarial tools

  • Advanced analytical and critical‑thinking skills, particularly with claims data and trend identification
  • Ability to interpret, model, and communicate financial and reserving data clearly
  • Strong problem‑solving ability for complex financial or claims‑related issues
  • Ability to recommend process improvements for models and reserving procedures
  • Ability to contribute measurably to team goals and deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with moderate decision‑making authority
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and serve as a resource to others

This position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work onsite, on average, 3 days per week. We are open to candidates located near one of the following office locations: Minnetonka, MN or Madison, WI.

The full salary grade for this position is $70,200 - $120,400. While the full salary grade is provided, the typical hiring salary range for this role is expected to be between $70,200 - $105,315. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data.
