Senior Functional Nutrition Practitioner

Company/Program: Be Resilient LLC by Dr. Pete Sulack
Location: Remote
Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (1099), Per-Client Compensation

About Us

We are a faith-based, compassionate start-up health program dedicated to supporting individuals navigating cancer by strengthening the body’s terrain through functional nutrition, lifestyle strategies, and personalized support. Rooted in grace and professionalism, our team serves with love and integrity to empower clients on their healing journey. We make clear that we are not an oncology team or provider, nor a replacement for them, but instead offer supportive, terrain-focused care that complements clients’ ongoing medical treatment with their outside providers.

At Be Resilient, we focus on the body’s terrain, the internal environment that determines whether the body can heal or continues to break down. Cancer and autoimmune disease arise in a body under chronic nutritional stress, inflammation, toxic burden, nervous system dysregulation, and impaired detoxification. While conventional care often manages disease, we focus on strengthening the terrain that supports cellular resilience and recovery. Nutrition is foundational to cellular energy, immune function, detoxification, and repair, yet it is often overlooked or reduced to general advice. Using comprehensive functional labs, including genetic SNP and intracellular nutrient testing, we assess whether an individual’s cells have had the nutrients they need over the past four to six months. From there, we test for food sensitivities to create personalized nutrition strategies and tailored meal plans. Once we have all of the lab results, we formulate compounded supplements. Every client gets a supplement formula tailored to what their body actually needs. This allows us to move beyond symptom management by identifying nutrient gaps, inflammatory food triggers, and key genetic factors, while supporting detoxification, nervous system regulation, movement, oxygenation, and environmental toxin reduction to rebuild the terrain healing depends on.

Role Overview

In our program, this role is referred to as a Terrain Health Specialist (THS). You will serve as the primary point of support for clients throughout their 8-month Be Resilient program, after they have had their clinical consultation with a Functional Nutrition Specialist (FNS). In this role, contractors may:

  • Schedule and conduct approximately one 1-hour client video call each month (generally every four weeks) as part of the per-client monthly service package, including sending follow-up recommendations or resources to the client as appropriate. Contractors are responsible for coordinating and scheduling these sessions directly with their clients, at times mutually convenient for both parties.
  • Provide a weekly availability for a minimum of seven “Meet Your Terrain Health Specialist Call 1” 1-hour client call slots until the contractor hits max client load capacity. This is the first call a new client has with their THS.
  • Offer ongoing client chat support as part of the per-client monthly service package. Clients are informed that chat support is provided through the Practice Better platform; contractors may use this or a comparable communication method of their choice to respond to client messages at their discretion. Clients are informed that responses are generally provided within one business day (Monday–Friday), though contractors maintain full discretion over the timing and method of communication.
  • Share education on functional nutrition and terrain-focused lifestyle practices, using program portal resources as desired.
  • Encourage, motivate, and provide accountability to clients as they implement their personalized plans.
  • Document and submit client interactions and progress to support continuity of care, with the optional program platform available as the preferred tool.
  • Offer ongoing collaboration and communication with the Be Resilient team through the designated communication platform (Slack). Contractors are expected to review Slack regularly during business days for important program updates, systems or process changes, and relevant client communications, and to respond to tagged messages or client-related outreach requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with program leadership or other contractors as needed to ensure continuity and quality of client support.

Contractors retain full professional discretion over their schedules, methods, and tools of engagement. Program resources and templates may be provided to assist with consistency of client care but are optional. Contractors may collaborate with program leadership as needed for additional guidance or case updates.

  • Strong understanding of functional nutrition and lifestyle considerations for individuals navigating oncology care with their providers with experience in motivational interviewing.
  • Familiarity with common client concerns in oncology settings (e.g., appetite loss, treatment side effects such as nausea, mucositis, or bowel changes).
  • Compassionate and professional communication style.
  • Ability to provide trauma-informed support with empathy and sensitivity.
  • Proof of current professional liability insurance.
  • Comfortable using electronic health platforms with a reliable internet connection (e.g., Zoom, Practice Better, Google Workspace) for virtual client care.

Who Thrives in a Start-Up Environment
This role is a good fit for someone who is energized by building something new and understands that early-stage programs evolve quickly. You’ll thrive here if you are adaptable, have open communication, and able to adjust when processes or systems change. We move fast, refine often, and expect contractors to bring ideas forward instead of waiting for step-by-step direction.

What Makes Someone Successful Here

  • Comfortable with frequent updates to workflows, scripts, or internal processes
  • Able to self-manage workload, schedule, and communication in a remote setting
  • Strong follow-through and personal accountability
  • Proactive about asking questions, seeking clarity, and troubleshooting
  • Organized and able to track tasks without oversight
  • Enjoys being part of a collaborative team even while working independently
  • Solutions-oriented and able to think on their feet

Who May Not Find This Environment Supportive

  • Prefers a fixed routine with minimal change
  • Needs formal direction for every task
  • Struggles with self-management or time management
  • Finds frequent updates overwhelming
  • Prefers a highly structured corporate environment

Working Remotely
Contractors who do well remotely typically have consistent internet, a quiet space for calls, and the ability to stay focused without external supervision. Clear communication and comfort using online platforms are essential for success.

Compensation
Compensation is structured on a per-client, per-month basis. Contractors are paid bi-monthly upon invoice for services rendered during the Service Period, at $81.09 per active client. Active clients are determined by the client’s Active status on the final day of the Service Period.

The monthly per-client service package generally includes:

  • Conducting an approximately one-hour client call each month.
  • Providing chat support through the program platform as part of the client’s service package. Contractors manage the timing and manner of responses at their own discretion.
  • Offering encouragement, education, and accountability consistent with the client’s established plan.
  • Maintaining detailed documentation of client interactions.
  • Sending the session recap and recommendations to the client through a Practice Better protocol.

Each contractor may spend more or less time per client depending on their workflow, client needs, and chosen methods of delivery. Most contractors report that each client requires approximately one hour for the monthly call, with additional time for client communication and preparation varying by contractor preference and workflow.

Invoicing:Contractors are paid on a per-client basis as outlined above and submit an invoice reflecting the number of active clients served during the Service Period in order to receive payment. Contractors may use their own invoice format, or a template is available for convenience.

Estimated Caseload Example

(For illustration only — actual caseloads and earnings vary by contractor availability and client flow.)

Standard Caseload (~72 clients) Estimated annual income: $70,000+

  • Client base typically builds by ~7 new clients per week until reaching 72. With approval a contractor may take on additional clients past the 72.
  • Example build-out:
  • Month 1: Orientation access $1,000 + 14 clients ($1,135.26) = $2,135.26
  • Month 2: $1,702.89 – $3,405.78 (21 – 42 clients)
  • Month 3: $3,973.41 – $5,676.30 (49 – 70 clients)
  • Month 4: $5,838.48 (72 clients)

Note: Any mention of time commitment or estimated hours is provided only to illustrate typical workloads reported by existing contractors. Contractors maintain full discretion over their schedules and work methods.

Orientation Support

Independent contractors are provided access to orientation resources for approximately two weeks, though they may review them at their own pace. Orientation may include program manuals, SOPs, call-flow templates, and portal navigation. Contractors may begin accepting client referrals once they indicate they are ready.

A one-time $1,000 orientation stipend is provided in recognition of the time invested in reviewing these resources. The stipend is not tied to hours, completion requirements, or client assignments and will be paid in the first payroll cycle following the contractor’s scheduling books opening for client appointments.

Independent Contractor Disclaimer

This engagement is structured as an independent contractor (1099) arrangement and is not an offer of employment. Contractors are responsible for their own business expenses, liability insurance, and tax obligations. While program resources and systems may be provided, contractors retain professional discretion in how services are delivered. Participation in team meetings, orientation resources, or use of suggested platforms is entirely optional and for convenience only. Contractors may coordinate with program leadership for case support, but nothing in this description shall be construed to create an employer–employee relationship.

About Dr. Pete Sulack

Dr. Pete’s personal testimony reflects God’s power and resilience. In 2024, he was diagnosed with a grade 4 diffuse astrocytoma brain tumor and given just a 1% chance to live beyond eight months. After prayer, research, and support from leaders such as his cousin Dr. Josh Axe and close friend Dr. Jordan Rubin, Dr. Pete chose to focus on addressing his terrain through holistic modalities and alternative approaches rather than conventional chemo or radiation.

By March 2025, he was declared cancer free and in remission. Today, Dr. Pete continues to serve as a husband, father, chiropractor, evangelist, and devoted son of the living God. He has authored books including The Joseph Blessing co-authored with Jordan Rubin and Be Resilient: The 12 Keys to a Happy & Healthy Life. He also founded , a ministry dedicated to proclaiming the Gospel, serving widows and orphans, ministering to the sick, and empowering pastors and leaders. One of its missions includes setting captives free—literally paying off the debts of those trapped in slavery so they can walk in freedom. Ten percent of all Be Resilient program sales support this ministry.
