    YOUR IMPACT

    You will work directly with client leaders and front-line operators on topics where implementation issues are important and where driving change is critical to successful realization of organizational goals.

    You will solve complex problems for clients, spending about 80% of your time working at a clients location as part of consulting team helping solve complex client problems in procurement domains. In this role, you will work in small teams with colleagues and clients to set up and execute a top-tier transformation office and performance infrastructure.

    You will build the strategies, capabilities, systems, and processes needed to deliver and sustain bottom-line results. Focus areas may include cost optimization, global sourcing, supplier development, category analytics, negotiation, strategic sourcing, and procurement.

    You will be involved from the diagnostic and recommendation phase through execution and capability building, ensuring quick ramp-ups, on-time delivery, and sustainable change. You will help build the client organization's leadership and functional capabilities to achieve long-term results, working with people at every level to ensure seamless transformation during and after projects.

    You will build a cutting-edge knowledge base. About 20% of your time will be spent on developing cutting edge knowledge related to the Procurement domain and in delivering specialized remote services to clients. You will also support the development and maintenance of various practice knowledge initiatives by way of building McKinsey's knowledge on Procurement related topics.

    You will be based in one of our India offices - Bengaluru, Gurugram, or Mumbai - as a part of McKinsey Implementation in the Operations practice.

    McKinsey Implementationprovides continuous and distinctive support to our clients to ensure they achieve and sustain the full benefits of our recommended changes. Our implementation consultants are involved from strategy through execution with a disciplined eye on impact and sustainability at every stage of the project life cycle

    Our Operations practice sits at the intersection of strategy, technology, and transformation to deliver sustainable and inclusive growth. It assists our clients in solving complex operational challenges.

    Our Procurement Practice, part of the broader Operations Practice, is dedicated to delivering significant financial and operational impact for our clients. We specialize in driving procurement transformations across industries, leveraging advanced analytics, digital platforms, and innovative strategies to optimize procurement processes and achieve measurable results. Our team works closely with clients to address strategic and operational challenges, including global sourcing, e-tendering, supplier development, and cost control.

    You will also be supported by McKinsey’s world-class implementation toolkit, Impact Essentials—the ten elements essential to sustaining transformation impact—and a broad range of tools and assets designed to support successful implementation.

    YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    • Bachelor’s degree: advanced degree preferred
    • Master’s degree (MBA/M.Tech/ME/MS) is preferred
    • 3+ years of relevant industry/consulting experience
    • Strong understanding of purchasing, sourcing, supplier identification and management, vendor development, costing, category analytics, etc
    • Deep procurement experience in the Global Energy and materials space (includes sectors like metals, chemicals, energy, etc)
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to independently structure and design the solution
    • Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities
    • Strong people skills - ability to engage all levels of the organization and work collaboratively in a team environment
    • Open to extensive travel to client sites
    • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English
