Senior IT Officer

1. IT Infrastructure and Network Management:

  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage systems, and enterprise software.
  • Manage and optimize network setups, including LAN, WAN, VLANs, VPN connections, and firewalls, ensuring robust connectivity and performance.
  • Lead the diagnosis and resolution of complex network and infrastructure issues in real-time environments.
  • Implement redundancy measures and system optimizations to ensure maximum uptime and availability.

2. IT Support and End-User Assistance:

  • Provide senior-level technical support to employees across organizational departments, troubleshooting and resolving all escalated hardware, software, and application issues.
  • Act as an escalation point for IT Officers for complex issues while ensuring timely solutions.
  • Customize IT solutions to meet departmental needs and provide expert assistance in integrating new technologies.
  • Deliver user training and guidance to optimize the use of IT resources and applications.

3. System Monitoring and Cybersecurity Management:

  • Continuously monitor IT infrastructure for performance, availability, and security using advanced monitoring tools.
  • Manage the deployment and configuration of security tools such as intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), endpoint security, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Design and implement cybersecurity protocols aligned with industry best practices and regulatory standards, including data security, encryption, firewalls, and user-access policies.
  • Act as the first responder for security breaches or potential threats, taking proactive measures to mitigate risks.
  • Perform security audits and ensure compliance with data protection laws and IT governance frameworks.


4. Software and Hardware Maintenance:

  • Supervise the procurement, installation, configuration, and routine maintenance of enterprise-grade software and hardware assets.
  • Ensure licensing compliance for proprietary and open-source software, keeping applications updated and secure.
  • Lead hardware lifecycle initiatives, coordinating asset upgrades, replacements, or repairs when necessary.

5. Site Support and Management:

  • Provide on-site IT support at operational facilities and remote locations to troubleshoot and resolve connectivity, system, and hardware issues.
  • Deploy optimized IT solutions tailored for site-specific needs to enable seamless operations.
  • Regularly audit and maintain IT setups at remote sites to align them with organizational standards.

6. Backup and Disaster Recovery Strategies:

  • Develop and manage robust data backup and disaster recovery systems to safeguard data and ensure operational continuity.
  • Conduct regular simulations and failover tests to verify recovery plans.

7. Project Leadership and Strategic IT Support:

  • Collaborate with management to implement IT infrastructure projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and objectives are strictly adhered to.
  • Lead the deployment of cloud-based and on-premises solutions, hybrid architectures, and advanced security systems.
  • Provide insights and technical guidance on IT strategy to align with the organization’s long-term goals.

8. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed technical documentation, including network diagrams, system configurations, change logs, and resolution workflows.
  • Deliver performance reports to stakeholders and propose strategies for improving IT policies, operations, and utilization.

Qualification:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
  • Certifications:
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Systems Administrator, or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), ITIL Certification, or AWS/Azure Cloud Architect certifications.




Experience and Competencies:

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, technical support, or related roles.
  • Experience working in an asset management environment is preferred.

IT Systems Management:

  • Proficiency in managing Windows/Linux servers, network infrastructure, and enterprise software applications.


Cybersecurity Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity protocols, including firewalls, antivirus, and data protection measures.


Problem-Solving:

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex IT issues.

Communication:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to explain technical information to non-technical users.


Teamwork:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.


Adaptability:

  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities, and adapting to new technologies and challenges.
