Key responsibilities
- Client consultation: Meet with clients to discuss their vision, needs, budget, and preferences for the kitchen.
- Design and visualization: Create 2D and 3D designs, sketches, and computer-generated images to present concepts to clients.
- Material and product selection: Choose and recommend appropriate cabinets, countertops, flooring, fixtures, and appliances.
- Technical planning: Develop detailed plans for the layout, including the placement of plumbing and electrical systems, and ensure plans are structurally sound.
- Collaboration: Work with architects, builders, and contractors to ensure the design is feasible and executed correctly.
- Project management: Manage project timelines, budgets, and stay on track to meet deadlines.
- Client relations: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, keep them informed of progress, and make revisions based on their feedback.
- Industry knowledge: Stay current with the latest kitchen design trends, materials, and software.
Required skills and qualifications
- Technical proficiency: Ability to read blueprints and proficiency in design software like CAD.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Project management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
- Creativity and problem-solving: Ability to generate creative solutions and effectively handle challenges that arise during the design and installation process.
- Knowledge: Understanding of building codes, regulations, and construction basics.
- Experience: A portfolio of past kitchen design work is often required.
