Job Title: Senior Lab Pack Chemist
Pay Range: $38/ hour
Location: San Jose, CA
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Handles hazardous materials including inventorying, identifying, segregating, and packaging waste material in accordance with Lab Pack policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

Performs onsite services such as waste collection, consolidation (e.g., bulking, repackaging), sampling, safety/compliance inspections, and other customer-required activities. Supports other business groups including Depack, Retail, and HHW as needed.

Prepares shipments of packaged waste by inspecting, labeling, marking, and loading into transport vehicles.

Completes documentation including shipping papers, Land Disposal Restrictions (LDRs), evaluations/certifications, and other required forms in compliance with regulations and procedures.

Maintains a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat Endorsement to operate company vehicles for transporting personnel and waste.

Follows and promotes Health & Safety / Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures, including development of site-specific Health & Safety plans.

Performs field testing of unknown materials for classification and packaging for transportation and disposal.

Mentors and assists new employees with field work duties.

Conducts site walks to inventory and assess requirements for potential and awarded work.

Assists sales team in creating estimates for lab pack jobs.

Leads and coordinates field service/lab pack jobs requiring multiple personnel or extended durations.

Supports scheduling and staff training as directed.

Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Requirements:

Associate degree in general science (BS preferred).

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazardous Material endorsement and a clean driving record.

Ability to travel moderately to extensively, including 20% overnight travel.

Physical ability to lift and move materials frequently exceeding 55 lbs.

Basic understanding of chemistry through general chemistry or biology coursework.

Advanced knowledge of EPA and DOT regulations.

Minimum six (6) years of lab pack experience.

40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
-
8-hour DOT training.
-
PPE training including respirator use.
-
40 hours of Depack experience.
-
Must obtain CDL B within six (6) months of start date. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility for the Lab Pack Chemist position.
