Job Overview

The Senior Landscape Designer leads landscape projects from concept through construction supervision, bringing expertise in planting design, hardscape finishes, and visual communication while mentoring the team and ensuring design intent is delivered on site.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and manage landscape design projects across all phases

● Oversee schematic design, design development, and construction documentation from project initiation through handover, ensuring quality and consistency at every stage.

● Monitor project milestones, manage design timelines, and ensure all deliverables meet client requirements and internal quality benchmarks.

2. Coordinate with architects, engineers, and specialist consultants

● Facilitate design coordination meetings and resolve cross-discipline conflicts during design development and site execution stages.

● Align landscape design outputs with architectural intent, structural requirements, and MEP interfaces to ensure fully integrated project delivery.

3. Develop design proposals using hand sketching and digital platforms

● Produce high-quality freehand concept sketches and digitally rendered visuals to communicate landscape design ideas clearly to clients and the design team.

● Prepare design options, study alternatives, and refined proposals for internal design reviews and formal client presentation sessions.

4. Apply in-depth knowledge of planting design and hardscape finishes

● Select and specify appropriate plant palettes, planting compositions, and landscape materials suited to the UAE climate, soil conditions, and project context.

● Review material samples, product technical submissions, and contractor shop drawings against design specifications and approved finishes.

5. Mentor and guide junior team members

● Review and provide constructive, timely feedback on drawings, sketches, and presentations produced by junior designers, sketch artists, and draftsmen.

● Support the professional development of team members through active coaching, knowledge sharing, and delegation of progressively complex tasks.

6. Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and local authorities

● Coordinate with landscape contractors, nurseries, and material suppliers to ensure quality, specification compliance, and on-time delivery of landscape materials.

● Manage RFI responses, authority correspondence, and contractor technical queries throughout the construction and delivery phases of projects.

7. Ensure full compliance with UAE local authority regulations and standards

● Review all design outputs against applicable UAE regulations, planning permit conditions, and local authority submission requirements before issue.

● Coordinate and manage the preparation of authority approval packages in collaboration with the project team and relevant consultants.

8. Other Tasks and Accountabilities

● Perform additional tasks relevant to the role / area of expertise as requested by management to achieve the objectives and commitments of the department.

● Act in full compliance with all relevant health, safety, quality and environmental Integrated Management System to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/services and a responsible environmental attitude.

Position Requirements (Education & Experience)

Master's degree in Landscape Architecture or any related field.

10+ years of experience in landscape design, including reasonable and demonstrable UAE-based project experience.

● Substantial knowledge of UAE plant palettes, planting design, and hardscape materials and finishes

● Site coordination and construction phase supervision experience
