About The Team And The Role
The Corporate Legal team at Ather is responsible for delivering high-quality strategic and operational legal services and counseling in all areas of law to support business growth and protect the organization’s rights, interests, and reputation.
This role is for a Senior Legal Counsel who will take ownership and operate independently in delivering legal services with a sense of urgency. The role involves supporting in-house departments on complex legal matters, managing disputes, and providing day-to-day advice on a wide range of legal areas including corporate, competition, privacy, and EV-related regulations.
Responsibilities

Deliver strategic and operational legal counseling across all areas of law to support business objectives and protect organizational interests.

Provide day-to-day advice on corporate, competition, privacy, data protection, employment, real estate, and motor vehicle laws, including EV policies.

Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize contracts relating to business, sales, marketing, network expansion, and new business initiatives.

Design, implement, and enforce company policies, legal SOPs, and playbooks to ensure compliance with Indian regulations.

Manage disputes and litigation matters while coordinating effectively with external solicitors and monitoring their performance.

Identify, assess, and evaluate legal risks to ensure they are mitigated on time through strategic management action plans.

Support the General Counsel on various activities and contribute to the development of local legal systems, processes, and training.

Collaborate with compliance owners to implement corporate compliance procedures and share knowledge to improve legal department effectiveness.
Experience And Qualifications

LLB/LLM from a premier institution with excellent academic credentials.

Relevant post-qualification experience between 12 to 15 years in reputed corporations.

Strategic Legal Counseling: Delivering high-quality operational legal services and counseling across diverse areas of law to protect organizational rights and reputation.

Contract Lifecycle Management: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts relating to sales, marketing, and business expansion.

Legal Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and evaluating legal risks to develop and execute strategic mitigation and management action plans.

Regulatory Compliance Oversight: Designing and enforcing company policies, SOPs, and compliance playbooks in alignment with Indian laws and EV-specific regulations.

Litigation and Dispute Management: Coordinating with external solicitors to manage litigation matters and monitor the performance of outside counsel.

Corporate Governance and Compliance: Implementing corporate compliance procedures and processes in collaboration with internal compliance owners.

Legal Process Development: Developing and implementing local legal systems, processes, and training to enhance the effectiveness of the legal function.

Business Development Support: Providing legal support for new business initiatives including the negotiation and execution of documents for new ventures.
