Senior Legal Counsel

Senior Legal Counsel – Doha, Qatar

Linum Consult’s client is currently seeking a Senior Legal Counsel with experience working for power or energy companies to be based in their Doha office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitoring and evaluating local, regional, and international laws and regulations that may affect the company, its joint ventures, and Independent Power Producers (IPPs), providing strategic legal advice, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks
• Overseeing the negotiation, drafting, and reviewing of all agreements and contracts, including mergers & acquisitions, ensuring the company’s interests are protected
• Advising on all claims and disputes; representing the company in courts, tribunals, and other dispute resolution processes, ensuring effective legal representation and safeguarding company interests
• Managing and approving all external legal services, selecting and overseeing external legal advisors to ensure high-quality legal support
• Alongside the executive management team, participating in the development and refinement of the company’s overall vision and strategy, and contributing to the overall process of corporate management
• Providing overall direction for the effective achievement of corporate objectives through expert leadership

PROFILE

• Degree qualification in Law, specialising in Corporate Law, ideally with a Professional Certification or MBA
• At least 15 years’ Legal Counsel experience, with 8 years in a similar position within an international company
• Significant experience of the energy/power/water industries, including emerging trends, technologies and key players
• Demonstrable working knowledge of legal proceedings within the energy/power sector and their national and international regulations
• Excellent leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to work with key stakeholders, senior executives, management teams, and external partners
• Highly organised, with the ability to run several large-scale projects simultaneously
• Fluent in English and ideally Arabic, with a significant history of working within Qatar and the wider GCC area
