Senior Material Engineer

Position Overview :

EDECS is seeking a Material Engineer - Site responsible for overseeing the selection, testing, and management of materials used in construction projects. The role ensures materials comply with project specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements. The Material Engineer will coordinate with procurement, site teams, and consultants to guarantee the availability and suitability of materials throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

Material Selection & Evaluation:

• Analyze the properties of various materials used in the project and select the best options based on technical requirements and availability.
• Provide alternative material proposals when specified materials are unavailable.

Request for Quotation (RFQ) Preparation:

• Prepare RFQs for materials and related services, ensuring clarity and compliance with project specifications.

Compliance & Documentation:

• Develop and maintain compliance sheets to verify that all materials meet relevant standards and project requirements.
• Prepare, submit, and follow up on material submittals for consultant and client approval.

Material Testing & Quality Control:

• Conduct or coordinate testing of materials under various conditions to assess suitability and performance.
• Monitor material storage, handling, and usage on-site to prevent damage or quality degradation.

ERP & Material Coding:

• Create and maintain accurate material coding within the ERP system to support inventory management and traceability.

Reporting:

• Prepare detailed reports on material properties, test results, compliance status, and material-related issues for project engineers and management.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Material Engineer in construction or industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of material testing standards ( ISO) and quality control processes.
• Experience preparing RFQs, compliance documentation, and material submittals.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and material coding best practices.
