Position Summary

The Senior Motorcycle Mechanic is responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of motorcycles, including modern and classic models. This role also provides leadership in the workshop by guiding junior technicians, ensuring high-quality workmanship, and delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform expert-level diagnosis and repair of mechanical and electrical motorcycle systems
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance including oil changes, brakes, belts/chains, suspension, tires, and alignment
  • Troubleshoot engine performance issues, fuel systems, and electronic systems (EFI, ABS, Traction Control, etc.)
  • Perform engine rebuilds, transmission repairs, and major component overhauls
  • Install aftermarket parts and accessories accurately to specifications
  • Complete pre-delivery inspections for new or serviced motorcycles
  • Support and mentor junior mechanics to enhance workshop skills and efficiency
  • Maintain workshop cleanliness, safety standards, and proper tool condition
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding repair needs, timelines, and costs
  • Use service software for work orders, inventory tracking, and parts ordering
  • Stay current with motorcycle technology, diagnostic tools, and industry updates

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 4–7+ years professional experience as a motorcycle mechanic/technician
  • Strong understanding of combustion engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Experience with major brands (e.g., Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Harley-Davidson, BMW, KTM)
  • Ability to read technical diagrams, service manuals, and diagnostic reports
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with modern electronic systems
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Valid motorcycle license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade certification or OEM training (e.g., MMI, manufacturer programs)
  • Experience with sportbikes, cruisers, off-road and/or performance tuning
  • Welding, fabrication, or custom build experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs (32 kg)
  • Comfortable working on feet and using tools for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity and safe handling of machinery
