Job summary

We’re hiring a results-driven Senior MEP Project Coordinator to take ownership of coordination, documentation and delivery support for medium-to-large MEP packages across Mima Construction’s electrical and construction projects. You’ll work mainly from the Karachi office, act as the central interface between design teams, procurement, contractors, vendors and clients, and ensure MEP works are delivered on schedule, within scope and to quality/HSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day coordination of MEP scopes (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) from award through handover.
• Prepare, update and manage project schedules; monitor milestones and report progress to management.
• Own submittal process: prepare/issue submittals, follow approvals, and maintain submittal & RFI registers.
• Review and co-ordinate technical drawings, shop drawings and specifications; identify and resolve MEP clashes with other disciplines.
• Liaise proactively with design consultants and site engineers to resolve technical queries and expedite decisions.
• Manage RFIs, site instructions and technical clarifications—ensure timely closure and documentation.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation (contracts, change orders, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, commissioning reports).
• Support cost control: raise variation requests, prepare input for change orders and assist commercial team with invoice substantiation.
• Conduct and/or coordinate regular coordination meetings; record minutes and track action closure.
• Assist with commissioning, testing, punch-list generation and formal handover processes.
• Carry out regular site visits to verify progress, quality and coordination (follow company site-visit policy).
• Ensure consistent documentation and best-practice processes.
• Ensure compliance with company HSE and QA/QC procedures across MEP activities.

Success metrics / KPIs

• Project milestones met (schedule adherence %).
• Average time to close RFIs and submittal approvals.
• Number of outstanding coordination clashes at snagging/handover.
• Accuracy and completeness of project documentation at handover.

Required qualifications & experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or equivalent diploma with relevant experience.
• 5+ years MEP coordination or project engineering experience on building or industrial projects; at least 2 years in a senior/coordinating role.
• Proven experience reading and reviewing MEP drawings, single-line diagrams, hydraulic and ductwork layouts.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with MS Project or Primavera preferred.
• Experience working with AutoCAD (reading/marking up drawings).
• Strong communication skills in English; confident client/consultant interaction.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple projects/priorities.

Preferred / nice-to-have

• Experience in electrical equipment supply/installation projects or working with electrical contractors.
• Familiarity with local Pakistani codes and international references (e.g., IEC, BS, ASHRAE basics).
• Certifications in project management (PMP) or MEP coordination.
• Experience with a document management system (Procore, Aconex or similar).
• Basic understanding of commissioning processes and building automation/BMS.
