Job Title: Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor
Department: Commercial / Cost Control
Location: Karachi, Pakistan
Reports To: Director / Project Manager

Position Overview
We’re seeking a Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing cost control activities from pre-contract to final account. Based in our head office with regular site coordination, you’ll ensure MEP packages are accurately costed, contractually compliant, and delivered within budget while supporting project managers and site teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all MEP quantity surveying duties for multiple projects, from tender stage through final account.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities, and contract documentation for MEP works.
  • Evaluate and negotiate MEP subcontractor quotations, variations, and claims.
  • Monitor and control project budgets, forecasting cost to complete, and managing cost/value reconciliations.
  • Assess progress payments for MEP subcontractors and ensure proper documentation.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice to project teams on MEP scope.
  • Prepare detailed monthly cost reports and cash flow projections.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MEP materials, market rates, and industry standards.
  • Support dispute resolution and contractual negotiations when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline (RICS accreditation preferred).
  • 6+ years of QS experience with at least 4 years focused on MEP works.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems, installation methods, and relevant codes.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and reporting skills.
  • Proficient in QS software (e.g., CostX, Candy, or similar) and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of standard forms of contract (FIDIC, NEC, or equivalent).
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines with a high level of accuracy.

  • Accuracy of cost forecasts vs. actual project costs.
  • Timeliness of valuations, claims, and reporting.
  • Effective management of variations and cost savings achieved.
  • Compliance with contract and company procedures.
