The Senior MEP Storekeeper is responsible for managing and controlling MEP materials, tools, equipment, and inventory for construction projects. The role requires a strong mechanical background to effectively handle, identify, store, and issue MEP materials, ensuring accurate inventory records and uninterrupted project operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the receipt, inspection, storage, and issuance of MEP materials, tools, and equipment.
- Verify incoming materials against purchase orders, delivery notes, and approved specifications.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper stock control procedures.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with procurement teams for timely replenishment of materials.
- Ensure proper storage and preservation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and firefighting materials.
- Maintain records of material receipts, issues, transfers, returns, and stock balances.
- Conduct periodic inventory checks, cycle counts, and annual stock audits.
- Coordinate with project engineers, supervisors, and site teams regarding material requirements and availability.
- Prepare material issue vouchers, goods received notes (GRNs), and inventory reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and HSE requirements within the store.
- Monitor material consumption and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and organization within the warehouse and storage areas.
- Supervise store assistants and material handlers to ensure efficient store operations.
- Coordinate material transfers between project sites and central stores when required.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of MEP materials, including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, piping, ducting, valves, fittings, pumps, and mechanical equipment.
- Good understanding of construction material management and inventory control practices.
- Ability to identify and classify mechanical and MEP materials accurately.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, inventory software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Additional certification in inventory or warehouse management is an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in storekeeping and inventory management within the construction industry.
- At least 5 years of experience handling MEP and mechanical materials.
- Experience in high-rise building projects is highly preferred.
- GCC/UAE construction experience is mandatory/preferred.
Software Requirements:
- ERP Systems (SAP, Oracle, ERPNext, or equivalent)
- Microsoft Excel
- Inventory Management Software
Other Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of MEP construction materials and specifications.
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and prepare stock reports.
- Familiarity with material receiving, inspection, preservation, and issuance procedures.
- Understanding of warehouse safety requirements and material handling practices.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and support multiple project requirements.
