Senior Microsoft and Cloud Engineer

About the Role

The Senior Microsoft & Cloud Engineer will lead the design, administration, and optimization of secure Microsoft and cloud environments for enterprise clients. This role serves as a senior escalation point for complex cloud and identity issues while driving security-first architecture, operational maturity, and cloud governance initiatives.

The ideal candidate possesses deep hands-on expertise in Microsoft 365, Azure, and/or AWS, thrives in multi-tenant or MSP environments, and demonstrates strong leadership, security awareness, and client communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Escalation

• Serve as Tier 3 escalation support for complex Microsoft 365, Azure, and cloud-related incidents
• Lead root cause analysis and remediation of high-impact security and infrastructure events
• Mentor and guide Tier 1 and Tier 2 engineers
• Participate in architectural reviews, risk assessments, and change advisory processes

Secure Cloud Infrastructure Management

• Architect, deploy, and manage secure Azure and/or AWS environments
• Administer virtual networks, VPNs, firewalls, and hybrid connectivity solutions
• Design high-availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies
• Optimize cloud performance, cost efficiency, and security posture

Microsoft 365 & Endpoint Security

• Oversee Microsoft 365 tenant configuration, governance, and compliance
• Support Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Intune
• Lead tenant migrations and hybrid identity deployments
• Implement security baselines and regulatory compliance controls

Identity & Zero Trust Security

• Design and troubleshoot Azure AD / Entra ID environments
• Configure and manage Conditional Access, MFA, Identity Protection, and PIM
• Support Zero Trust architecture implementations
• Conduct security posture reviews and recommend remediation strategies

Automation, Documentation & Continuous Improvement

• Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation and SOPs
• Automate cloud administration tasks using PowerShell or scripting tools
• Contribute to internal knowledge base and operational process improvements
• Support cybersecurity initiatives aligned with industry best practices

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Microsoft 365 and Azure administration
• Strong experience managing Azure and/or AWS cloud deployments
• Experience working in multi-tenant or MSP environments preferred
• Advanced understanding of networking concepts including DNS, routing, firewalls, and VPNs
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Security-first mindset with strong attention to detail
