Senior MIG Welder - Second Shift - Starting at $28.00/hr

RAO Manufacturing is seeking to add an experienced MIG Welder to our 2nd shift Brooklyn Center welding team. Highlights of working at RAO:

• We weld a wide variety of industrial & commercial products, from simple sheet metal brackets up to large multi-component enclosures.
• RAO employs over 15 skilled welders that work with the latest Fronius, Miller and ABB Equipment.
• Our factory is well-lit, air-conditioned and organized.
• RAO is ISO certified.
• We manage our own internal weld certification program that seeks to have all of our welders qualified to the latest AWS standards for welding carbon steel, aluminum and stainless steel.

Hours: Monday – Thursday 2:30pm-1:00am

Location: 6530 James Ave N. Brooklyn Center, MN 55430

Starting Pay: $28-$32.50 / hour based on experience + opportunity for quarterly cash bonuses

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Quality precision MIG hand welding of multiple material types.
• Weld metal assemblies (sheet metal ranging from 1/32” to ¼” in thickness).
• Produce production batches ranging from 50-200 pieces.
• Follow work instructions that include a variety of information including written instructions, drawings, pictures, videos and in many cases sample reference parts
• Work with custom fixtures & hand tools to align parts for welding
• Interface with our company’s computer system to track details of your work assignment & progress.
• Maintain consistently good quality of work: evaluating both visual quality, quantity & strength of welds.
• Be able to focus on your assignment & weld consistently for your entire shift.
• Must be willing to help with non-welding work on occasion (less than 5%) including leak testing, passivating parts, fastener insertion, grinding, or other general factory tasks.
• Opportunities may occur to expand your skills & work on other projects such as: expand your AWS qualifications, get involved with robotic welding & programming, TIG welding, grinding & metal finishing.

WELDER QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 3 years of experience MIG welding carbon steel or aluminum.
• A certificate or degree from a welding technical school is desired, but not required
• MIG welding skills capable of passing RAO’s internal weld certification process based on AWS welding standards.
• Be able to sit, stand, twist, bend for up to 10 hours, while moving & welding parts
• Repetitively grasp, lift and position production parts typically weighing up to 20 lbs. Occasional lifting of bigger parts to 50 lbs. Occasional pushing of parts up to 150lbs.
• Be reliable and able to work a 40 hour week (voluntary overtime is frequently available)

WHAT TO EXPECT IN OUR INTERVIEW & HIRING PROCESS:

• Brief phone call to mutually confirm interest and answer your questions
• Onsite interview with welding department supervisor followed by a factory tour and weld test (AWS D1.1 structural steel code)
• Hiring decisions are typically made within 72 hours of your onsite interview
• Pre-employment drug screen, physical exam and criminal background check required prior to beginning work
