Under general supervision of the Municipal Court Administrator, this position performs advanced clerical and case management duties in support of the Town’s Municipal Court. The role requires specialized knowledge of court operations, municipal court law, and juvenile case management practices. Work involves processing citations, maintaining accurate court records, assisting the public, supporting court proceedings, and serving as the Town’s primary coordinator for all juvenile cases.This position reflects the Town’s commitment to customer service, professionalism, and the fair, efficient administration of justice.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Juvenile Case Management Functions•Serves as the Town’s lead coordinator for juvenile cases, consistent with Article 45A.451 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure. Supports youth diversion efforts, reinforces court orders, and helps prevent deeper involvement in the justice system.•Screens, evaluates, and routes juvenile cases.•Coordinates and manages all juvenile dockets; communicates regularly with juveniles, parents, schools, and community partners.•Implements and monitors court orders, including community service, counseling, educational classes, and Teen Court participation; tracks compliance and prepares necessary court orders and judgments.•Provides timely case updates and recommendations to the Judge to support decisions made in the best interest of the child.•Initiates enforcement actions for non-compliance and files required reports with DPS or other agencies.•Supports Teen Court activities as assigned, including volunteer coordination, docket preparation, case assignments, and attendance monitoring.•Recruits and monitors community service sites for juvenile and adult defendants.•Collects and reports data on juvenile outcomes, program usage, recidivism, and compliance for internal reporting and budget planning.Senior Court Clerk Functions•Provides high-quality, customer-focused service in support of the Town’s Municipal Court operations.•Processes citations, complaints, warrants, payment plans, deferred dispositions, attorney filings, and court date requests; ensures accurate entry and updates in INCODE.•Collects and receipts fines, fees, and bonds; prepares and processes payments for citations and warrants; balances the daily cash drawer.•Schedules, prepares, and maintains hearings, trials, and dockets; works closely with the Police Department, Judge, and Prosecutor to support case flow and docket management.•Organizes, transmits, and stores court documents and records consistent with Town and State retention policies; retrieves archived documents as needed.•Assists the public in person, by phone, and by email; explains court procedures, payment options, and defendant rights with professionalism and clarity.•Serves as courtroom clerk during court sessions, assisting the Judge and Prosecutor.•Supports customer service goals by evaluating service quality, fostering cooperative relationships, and identifying opportunities for improvement.•Assists the Court Administrator with workflow coordination and serves as backup when needed.•Performs other duties as assigned to support effective and efficient court operations.
