Senior Director, PI Support Unit
Purpose:
The role manages the financial, administrative, and logistical aspects of sponsored research projects and grants. The job holder ensures compliance with AUC and donor regulations, manages financial transactions, supports Principal Investigators (PIs), and contributes to financial reporting, audits, and process improvements that enhance efficiency and accountability across the grants’ portfolio.
Responsibilities:

Financial Management
: Administer daily financial transactions, monitor budgets, and ensure compliance with AUC and donor regulations. Prepare and reconcile financial reports, assist in audits, and support budget forecasting

Administrative Coordination
: Coordinate project logistics, procurement, and travel arrangements. Maintain organized filing and record-keeping systems for all financial and administrative documentation

Reporting & Documentation
: Prepare donor and internal financial reports, track project expenditure, and maintain audit-ready documentation

Compliance & Process Improvement
: Ensure adherence to institutional and donor policies; recommend improvements to streamline financial and administrative workflows

Communication & Collaboration
: Serve as liaison among principal investigators, university offices, and external partners to facilitate smooth grant operations and resolve issues efficiently

General Support:
Perform other related duties as required
Requirements:
Minimum Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, accounting or a relevant field
Experience:
-
Minimum 8 years of experience, including 3-5 years of prior experience in administration and financial management
Skills:

Financial Management & Reporting:
Advanced expertise in budget planning, forecasting, and reconciliation

Strong understanding of donor regulations, grant accounting, and cost principles

Systems & Process Optimization:
Proficiency in SAP, financial modeling, and data analysis tools. Ability to streamline workflows and enhance system efficiency

Compliance & Risk Management
: Proven ability to ensure adherence to AUC and sponsor financial policies

Communication:
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Capacity to represent the unit in meetings and cross-departmental initiatives
