Senior Officer, Research Grants and Publications - UAE Nationals Only

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Grant Management:
    • Oversee the administration of internal and external research grants, ensuring compliance with AU internal and external funding agency requirements.
    • Manage the entire lifecycle of grants, from application and award processing to monitoring and reporting.
    • Work closely with faculty members to assist in the preparation and submission of grant proposals.
    • Monitor expenditure, budget allocation, and financial compliance for awarded research projects.
  • Research Publication Fee Processing:
    • Handle the full cycle of research related payments and reimbursements in coordination with faculty, publishers, and internal offices at the university.
    • Ensure timely and accurate processing of all requests, maintaining detailed financial records.
  • External Grant Acquisition & Outreach:
    • Act as AU’s liaison with governmental agencies and funding organizations to secure research grants and funding opportunities.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with funding bodies to enhance AU’s research funding portfolio.
    • Organize workshops and training sessions to assist faculty in securing external research funding.
  • Strategic Research Support & Reporting:
    • Consolidate research funding data, prepare analytical reports, and support AU’s research strategy.
    • Coordinate with relevant university departments to ensure smooth implementation of research policies and procedures.
    • Support ranking and accreditation efforts by providing accurate and timely data related to research funding and outputs.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s or ideally Master’s degree in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or Business Administration or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in academic research administration, research grant management, working experience in a university or academic institute.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in handling research data, in a university or research-intensive environment.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Proficiency in financial and grant management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills for budget forecasting and expenditure tracking.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and other data management tools.
  • Experience in dealing with government funding agencies and international research grants is preferred.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to engage with funding bodies and faculty members.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced research environment.
  • High attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to maintaining research integrity.
