Senior Paralegal

Summary:

The Paralegal Sr. provides daily legal support to Huntington Distribution Finance, a wholly owned subsidiary of Huntington National Bank that provides inventory financing to dealers in numerous industries. The Paralegal will be part of a collaborative legal team and will frequently work under minimal direction in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Customize legal lending documents for borrowers, including security agreements, guaranties, borrower resolutions, confidentiality agreements and correspondence
  • Assist in drafting and updating template legal documents and forms, and maintaining library of forms
  • Assist with basic corporate governance and maintenance work, including drafting corporate resolutions and maintaining state and provincial registrations and regulatory filings
  • Proofread legal documents, including security agreements, correspondence with customers, and program agreements with manufacturers
  • Administer and track litigation holds
  • Maintain electronic files and information in the Legal department’s document management system
  • Open new matters for outside counsel in Legal Tracker, facilitating payment of outside counsel invoices, and coordinating billing matters with outside counsel and internal finance department
  • Perform administrative tasks as requested and other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or in lieu of an Associate's degree, must have formal paralegal training
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a support role in a corporate environment or in a law firm

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in corporate, finance/banking, and/or secured transactions matters
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction and set work priorities that conform to established standards
  • Exercise independent judgment and initiate contact with internal clients, attorneys and other involved parties
  • Team player that has ability to collaborate with other team members outside legal and help influence and guide other HDF colleagues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and judgment (including ability to interface with all levels of colleagues)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe and other legal research tools including Excel spreadsheet experience and skills
  • Proven analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines as assigned and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor and producing high-quality work product
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with enterprise legal management tools
  • Proficiency with Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker, or similar case management database is a plus
  • Paralegal certificate

Compensation Range:

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
