Senior Pharmacist

Purpose of Role

The Senior Pharmacist will lead and manage pharmacy operations across all branches of Karwan-e-Hayat Institute for Mental Health Care. This role ensures the safe, effective, and compliant management of all pharmaceutical services, including procurement, dispensing, medication management, and regulatory compliance, supporting both inpatient (IPD) and outpatient (OPD) psychiatric care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations across all branches.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and pharmacy assistants.
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all branches.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, workflow efficiency, and employee performance management.
  • Manage procurement, storage, and distribution of psychiatric and general medications.
  • Ensure proper labeling, handling, and dispensing of all medicines.
  • Monitor stock levels and expiry dates; implement measures to minimize wastage.
  • Maintain accurate records of all medication dispensing and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with national pharmaceutical regulations, PMDC (or relevant authority), and hospital policies.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Report and manage any medication errors or adverse drug reactions.
  • Collaborate with Quality Management to support inspections and accreditations.
  • Work closely with psychiatrists, nurses, and medical officers to optimize patient medication management.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and provide pharmaceutical guidance.
  • Educate staff and patients on safe medication use, interactions, and side effects
  • Manage pharmacy budgets, procurement costs, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Support tendering and vendor management for all pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Prepare reports on pharmacy performance, stock usage, and cost analysis for senior management.

Qualifications and Registration

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D).
  • Valid registration with the Pakistan Pharmacy Council or equivalent authority.
  • Minimum 3–4 years’ experience in hospital pharmacy; experience in psychiatric pharmacy preferred.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of psychiatric medications and mental health care.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in pharmacy management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to oversee multiple branches efficiently and maintain high standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to Rs85,000.00 per month
