Senior PowerBuilder Developer

Koniag Data Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior PowerBuilder Developer with a Secret clearance to support KDS and our government customer in Kettering, OH. This is a hybrid opportunity.

Koniag Data Solutions, is seeking a Senior PowerBuilder Developer to support the maintenance and enhancement of the application. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with PowerBuilder, Oracle database environments, and various protocols to support production, development, and testing environments. This role will involve working within an Agile methodology to deliver 5-7 releases annually while providing technical support to the Cross Domain Team (CDT). The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team-based environment.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The Senior PowerBuilder Developer will be responsible for maintaining and operating the application and database servers while ensuring compliance with current and future IT policies/directives. The role involves providing technical expertise for system maintenance and modification, implementing Help Desk resolutions, and supporting data management needs. Principal responsibilities include:
  • Design, develop, and maintain complex PowerBuilder applications
  • Debug and resolve technical issues in existing applications
  • Create and optimize database queries and stored procedures
  • Provide technical leadership on PowerBuilder projects and mentor other developers
  • Document system designs, code, and processes
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
  • Collaborate with business analysts to translate requirements into technical specifications
  • Support application migration efforts from PowerBuilder to modern technologies
  • Develop test cases and perform unit testing of applications
  • Provide production support for critical business applications
  • Maintain and enhance application using PowerBuilder and related technologies
  • Implement resolutions for Level II and Level III support tickets, including data management, manipulation, and software issue resolution
  • Provide ongoing technical support to the CDT including data extraction, building and running queries/reports, and fulfilling ad hoc data requests
  • Participate in systems analysis, design, programming, testing, deployment, and documentation for Change Requests (CRs) and Defect Reports (DRs)
  • Support the Agile development process through sprint planning, backlog management, and roadmap creation
  • Work with the Government team to develop user stories, release plans, and acceptance criteria
  • Create and maintain system architecture and documentation
  • Support the team in achieving compliance with all Government standards
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 7+ years of experience in PowerBuilder development
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL Server, Oracle, or other relational databases
  • Experience with client-server and architecture implementations
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical projects and mentoring developers
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification (current)
Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Expert-level knowledge of PowerBuilder
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
  • Proficiency in SQL and stored procedure development
  • Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN, or similar)
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Other responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership team
