Senior Procurement Officer

Summary:


The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for managing the procurement of medical and non-medical supplies, equipment, and services to ensure uninterrupted hospital operations and high-quality patient care. This role involves strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and strict compliance with healthcare regulations and hospital procurement policies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the sourcing and purchase of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, consumables, and hospital equipment.
  • Manage procurement of non-medical items such as office supplies, maintenance materials, and service contracts.
  • Coordinate with clinical, pharmacy, and biomedical departments to ensure specifications meet medical standards.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate supply and service contracts in coordination with legal and finance departments.
  • Monitor vendor compliance with contract terms, service-level agreements (SLAs), and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and pharmacy teams to maintain optimal stock levels and avoid shortages.
  • Ensure all purchases comply with Ministry of Health regulations and hospital procurement policies.
  • Implement measures to prevent supply chain disruptions and ensure quality control.
  • Prepare and present procurement reports, budgets, and forecasts to senior management.
  • Contribute to vendor performance evaluations and develop long-term supplier relationships.


Qualifications & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or CISCP (Certified International Supply Chain Professional) are an advantage.


Competencies & Skills

  • Minimum 3–6 years of procurement experience, with at least 3 years in a hospital or healthcare environment .
  • Strong knowledge of medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare vendor networks.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in hospital ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, HIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
