Job Description:

  • Gather and synthesize input from shoppers, clients, and colleagues to develop iterative improvements and product strategy to improve the user experience for the software services that Bazaarvoice provides to clients.
  • Work closely with other designers, technical writers, and engineers to improve the user experience for software products for the development and postlaunch periods.
  • Use research and data to create design flows and experiences that are simple and elegant. Use software tools such as Figma, Sketch, and Invision to deliver high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes.
  • Design solutions that solve clients’ problems and are user friendly, minimize user training, and fit within Bazaarvoice’s business goals and technical capabilities.
  • Collaborate with team members on features and product ideas with a focus in user centered design methods and principles.
  • Validate solution by testing with clients and proxy users to ensure its usability and usefulness.
  • Collaborate with product stakeholders and subject matter experts on client’s operational practices and technology used, which then be considered with designing Bazaarvoice’s product features.
  • Communicate designs for features through presentations and technical design documentation.
  • Monitor usage behaviors and address any existing usability issues in the tool with software engineers.
  • Create and maintain a library of usability patterns and interface components in sync with software engineers to ensure consistency and predictability in user experience.
  • Work together with product stakeholders and Engineers to select the most appropriate design solution that is technically feasible within the desired timeframe and still solves client users’ problems.
  • Work with Product Management to translate user needs and industry trends into product feature specifications and agree on what analytics to track for product feedback and improvement.
  • Request feedback from other fellow designers in a design critique forum and iterate design solutions.
  • Detail design specifications and offer build support to engineers on any edge cases not considered during development stage.
  • Conduct user research such as user interviews and product usability tests and analyze findings to determine user needs and assess viability of proposed design solution.
  • Plan and execute product concept validation research with Research and Product Management.
  • Analyze competitor product offerings and usability patterns.
  • Prototype design solutions to communicate with stakeholders and test with client users and internal proxy users.
  • Provide design specifications on Figma during handoff to engineers.
  • Ideate and collaborate with Product Management possible product features and development phases.
  • Strategize product visions and inspire teammates by designing ahead of immediate road map features.
  • May telecommute from home within the Austin, TX MSA.

Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in User Experience, Design, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Must have five (5) years of experience as a User Experience Designer, Product Designer, or related position.
  • The five (5) years of experience must have included the following: creating interaction models, user flows, screen designs, and UI details that promote ease of use and optimize the user experience; proposing, building, and maintaining design system patterns and standards; conducting user research initiatives such as interviews, surveys, usability tests, and translating observations into findings; designing web applications; and using HTML/CSS and data model.
