Overview of the role :

Al Futtaim are seeking an experienced Client side, electrical engineer to work as part of a small MEP team. As an integral member of the team, the Senior Electrical Engineer will contribute to multiple projects, from the design and planning phases to completion, providing strategic and detailed input for electrical power and ELV systems, including consultant and contractor selection, and tendering processes.
Technical client’s representative, ensuring that all electrical engineering aspects of the company’s real estate projects are designed, reviewed, and executed to the highest standards. The role involves leading and managing engineering consultants, reviewing and approving technical submissions, and overseeing the construction phase to ensure compliance with project specifications, safeguarding the project’s technical integrity, schedule, and budget while delivering high-performance, sustainable, and safe electrical systems.
The candidate shall be capable of handling multiple projects across the Al Futtaim project portfolio, which may range from retail malls, tenant fit-out, new residential villas and apartment complexes, hotels, offices and workshops, to luxury private housing.

What you will do :

a) Project Delivery Quality

• Contribute to project briefing and technical standards for electrical engineering aspects of all projects.
• Review all Project Design Stages from Concept to Detailed Design to ensure compliance to project design intent and business requirement.
• Produce formal review / approval status reports for consultant and contractor designs and manage the respective parties’ responses and close out.
• In conjunction with other members of the project team, ensure that the completed project is delivered to the required defined quality standard.
• Assist Project Team in the evaluation of site problems and solutions and the testing and commissioning of key works.

b) Project Delivery Progress

• Monitor project progress by working with the project team and report on and initiate measures for corrective actions if project falls behind the specified milestones and programme targets.
• Procures actions from team members and monitor and report on the results of these actions

c) Project Delivery Cost

• Responsible with the project team to monitor costs and prepare and manage actions to maintain cost targets.
• In conjunction with cost team, evaluate variations and prepare budget estimates for the works.

d) Project Value Engineering

• Responsible for undertaking regular value engineering exercises within the project team to ensure that engineered solutions are being maintained within the project’s cost parameters.
• Pro-actively evaluate solutions that recognise life cycle costs, particularly for client side where projects are often owner/occupier

e) Project Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain project progress records for inclusion with overall project reporting. This will include procuring these reports from other members of the project team.
• Coordination with the Project Team to ensure delivery of complete designs and the contractor’s provision of thorough and correct project documentation.

f) Tender Documentation

• Assists in the preparation of contract documentation to secure and manage various elements of the project.
• Technical input to consultant design RFPs, review and technical assessment of proposals
• Oversight and contractor tender documentation, including review and technical assessment of proposal

Required skills to be succesful :

• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering systems (LV, MV, HV, power distribution, lighting, ELV, etc.)
• Understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations
• Proficiency in reviewing design drawings, specifications, and technical submittals.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.

What equips you for the role :

• The candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum total of 15 years of work experience, with at least 5 years in a position of leadership / senior engineering
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the direct management of large, complex real estate projects with responsibility for site analysis, permitting and approvals, budget control, estimating, design, construction and project management
