Senior project manager - taxation

Doha, Qatar

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end delivery of digital transformation projects focused on taxation, ensuring alignment to scope, budget, timelines, and quality standards.

• Translate business objectives and tax compliance requirements into executable project roadmaps, deliverables, and milestones.

• Ensure strict adherence to applicable tax laws, statutory reporting, and international regulatory frameworks throughout the project lifecycle.

• Develop comprehensive project documentation including project plans, costing, resource allocation, risk management, success criteria, and change control processes.

• Drive collaboration across finance, IT, legal, and regulatory teams to ensure requirements, schedules, and deliverables remain on track.

• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to taxation compliance, system integration, or evolving regulatory changes.

• Provide regular executive-level reporting on progress, financials, compliance, and risk posture.

• Lead, coach, and motivate cross-functional project teams, ensuring clarity of roles, accountability, and delivery excellence.

• Manage third-party vendors and consultants engaged in taxation technology implementation, ensuring contract compliance and service quality.

• Support business development and pre-sales efforts by providing project management insights and contributing to bid/proposal activities.

• Contribute to PMO functions including project reporting, resource planning, and performance monitoring.

• Apply both Agile and Waterfall methodologies effectively depending on project context, with experience managing hybrid and resource-based models (Fixed Cost, T&M).

• Facilitate project governance forums, workshops, and steering meetings with senior stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and decision-making.

Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Information Systems.

• Professional certifications in project management (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent).

• 10–12 years of progressive project management experience, with at least 5 years in senior roles leading digital transformation programs.

• Strong knowledge of taxation frameworks (corporate tax, VAT, withholding, etc.) and their digital implementation.

• Proven experience in taxation technology enablement (ERP tax modules, tax engines, e-invoicing platforms, compliance tools).

• Demonstrated success in managing multi-million-dollar transformation programs in regulated environments.

• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with ability to influence at CXO and regulatory authority levels.

• Deep understanding of taxation laws, compliance, and their integration into digital systems.

• Strong business-technology acumen, with familiarity in ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics), tax engines, and emerging technologies (AI/ML, RPA).

• Analytical strength to translate tax complexities into digital workflows, compliance dashboards, and automation strategies.

• Change leadership with proven success in embedding new taxation processes within organizations.

• Results-driven with a strong track record of delivering complex programs within scope, time, and budget.

Preferred Skills:

• Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written).

• Excellent presentation, facilitation, and negotiation skills with senior executives and external stakeholders.

• Strong vendor management, contract negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.

• Proficiency in MS Project, MS Office Suite, and Jira.

• High adaptability, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills including collaboration, persuasion, and influencing.

• Professionalism, accountability, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
